WSES (Write Strategy Evaluation System) comes directly from LiteOn labs.

- Propose

WSES that can be used to perform various tasks such as:

1) Performance tests (trasnfer rate, seek/access times),
2) Writing quality tests (C1/C2, ATER measurement, BETA, RF/GAMMA)
3) Getting Information about insert disc/drive status

- Supported drives

All LiteOn recorders and readers. Drives based upon MediaTek chipsets may work also, look in the hardware section for such compatibility. The software's writing quality tests will work only with LiteOn CD-RW recorders while the "exercise -> read c1/c2 count" will only work with the LiteOn CD/DVD readers.

- Installation

The WSES software works only under plain DOS, forget DOS windows under Win2k/WinXP, and only under FAT32 partitions. It is advised to use Win98SE boot disc and during the boot up process don't load any DOS drivers.You should have already unzipped the contents of the zip file into a folder (/WSES/). Inside that folder there are two files:

a) st.exe that will be used to take screenshots of the various test results
b) wses.exe that is the main test software

The st (screen thief) software can be used as: C:\wses\st.exe. Pictures can be taken by pressing CTRLl+ALT+T. The names of the saved pictures are in sequence (wses01, wses02,etc..). The default output format is .BMP. In case you wish you can store pictures in .PCX or .TIFF format with the following command: C:\wses\st. /outputcx (or /output:tiff)

gw sih taunya dari hasil uji coba berulangkali, as always...

Kalo kagak salah, ada program "Discdoctor" bikinan orang Jepang, bisa periksa C1 dan C2 error juga, plus jalan di windows. Tapi yah bahasa jepang programnya. Tau deh download di mana, gua cuma denger2 di forun2 doank.
Satu program lagi, Plextools versi baru juga katanya bisa nge-cek C1 dan C2 error, malah ini program bisa periksa jitter-nya juga. Cuma, program ini cuma termasuk/jalan di drive Plextor Premium yg paling baru....
Ada rumor, CD Speed-nya Nero katanya nanti mao ditambah feature periksa C1 dan C2 error juga.

kalo tester seh gua pake yang udah add-in dari nero aja dah lumayan lengkap disitu juga ....

Yg bagus? Favorit gua sekarang Fuji (Taiyo Yuden), ama Verbatim datalife plus.

cdr yg murah en bagus apaan seh, gw biasanya beli yg 1500an tapi kayanya masih bisa dibaca tuch..

Tergantung. Gua pake yg Fuji ama Verbatim cuma buat CD data/backup ama VCD. Kalo buat CD lagu, gua pake apa aja yg ketemu murah.
CD-R murah itu "jelek"-nya yah di jumlah C1 dan C2 error, tapi bisa diperkecil kalo loe burn-nya dengan kecepatan rendah (8X ke bawah). Merk apa aja terserah, sebab banyakan pasti yg bikin layer-nya sama2 di Taiwan (yg umum CMC ama Ritek).

Maksudnya "masih ada"? Mustinya masih deh.
Masalah pembuat layer emang agak rumit. Merk yg sama, bisa yg bikin layer-nya beda2, tergantung distribusi dan di negara mana. Yg pasti sih kalo Fuji-nya tulisan "made in Japan," kemungkinan TY. Kalo mao tau, bisa di-cek pake Nero punya CD speed, Extra, Disc info.

Emang CD-R murah bukannya berarti bakal bermasalah. C1 error itu bisa dikoreksi ama reader, jadi kalo hasil burn banyak C1 error-nya, belom tentu bakal kerasa, soalnya ada error correction.
