which diction or accent you hate hearing?
english?
ausie?
chinese?
japanese?
malay?
or what?
---
personally i hate malaysian diction, they sound like a sh*t hehe :kakaka:
and also australian diction, it seems like the end of each word they pronounced are lack of one letter and most of the time they can't pronounce "R" :hehe
and chinese diction too, they sound like a bird *twit twit twit* hehe maybe just because i don't understand their language :kakaka:

:D i had my own shares of this rather annoying thing with chinese accent. happened to me many times, when they spoke to you too close, you could actually see the sprinkle of their saliva come in contact with your face :D
i wonder..... is it because too many words with zzzzzz pronounciation in their native language????

For an Indonesian to say that Indonesians do not have an accent is like a French stating, "we French don't have accents. What in the world are you talking about?"
It's harder for us to recognize an accent when we actually are native speakers of the language. Many Americans consider themselves accent free, when in actuality they do have accents, although it's not as pronounced as say a British accent.
Personally, I think accents are fascinating. I don't hate any of them, but I do find some of them difficult to understand. My frustration at my inability to understand what someone is saying because of their accent only piques my interest to learn their language more...or to try to emulate their way of saying things...hehe

hehe.. i used to hate singlish (sporean) maupun manglish (malaysian) sih ya
tapi skarang udah ngga gitu lagi..
i mean.. can't help it kurasa, apalagi kalo inggris itu bukan bahasa pertama, normal aja bahasa ato aksen dari bahasa asli jadi kebawa2 ke inggris.. dan logat itu bukan sesuatu yang bisa dihilangkan begitu aja (kecuali aktor2 kaya robin williams yang jago maen aksen), ini ada aja temen2 orang asing kaya indo, indian, chinese, dll yang udah tinggal di amrik brapa lama, masih ada at least sedikit aksennya..
yah, buat yang accentnya kental, kaya si aisyah bilang.. jadi susah ngertinya kalo ngomong.. tapi mo gimana ya.. bahasa itu bukan kaya maths yang skali hapal rumus dan ngerti konsep trus udah bisa dikerjain.. blajar bahasa perlu waktu tuh.. :D

I don't really have any hatred toward a specific accent. But i have some problem understanding african-american accent.
Do you guys know Sir Alex Ferguson ? his english (Scotland accent) is horrible, everytime i saw an interview abt him on tv... i can't barely understand a single word

does Indonesian have an accent?
i thought the accent is more of an dialect accent, like javanese, sundanese, dll
indonesian itself doesn't have an accent I think
if they do speak in different accent, I think it's more about their background dialect and mother dialect, not the actual indonesian accent itself.
don't mind correcting me if i'm wrong

from what i see in this thread, I think we need to come up with a definition for accent that everyone can accept. so what's an accent? how do you perceive it? how do you differentiate it?
a way of speaking? how people speak? stress or intonation? local or national way of pronounciation? manner of speaking which indicates particular quality?

Lah, in America it is the same thing. There is no one specific accent. There are various kinds of "American" accent. Southern, Bostonian, Midwestern, Maryland, Californian, etc. If you meet people from these backgrounds, all of them will have different accents.
Just like Indonesians...or anyone from any country for that matter. I hold the belief that we ALL have accents. Because every single one of us is different. We are all raised in different areas, with different ways of speaking, with different cultures, etc.
The thing is though, if we are part of a certain background, or if we grow up among certain people, we cannot detect the differences within them. it is very hard.
I can't see either that I have a "bule" accent when speaking Indonesian. But to an Indonesian who hears me speak Indonesian, they will say "hey you speak with an accent". And an Indonesian who speaks English, will also have an accent. Other Indonesians from a similar background will not be able to detect it well. But Indonesians who are native speakers of English will.

an accent is a way of speaking. It is basically all of the above definitions you have seemed to question. Everyone has different accents because everyone was taught differently on how to speak...the rules, the manner, the diction, etc.
Also when one has been so exposed to more than one manner of speaking, one tend to have a more neutral accent. But still, that neutrality is particular to one's surrounding alone. in a different area, with different ways of speaking, one will find oneself being branded with having an accent. ;D

hahah,,,,, 'faking' .... its the way they talk, matey.... i think the caucasian aussies are ok... but if an asian, turks/middle eastern look person talk... esp in public transport.. those school/college girls... the way they talk... well just like you said... they make the aussie accent so strong.... like faking it...
same happen to asians... i dunno why... asians talk so loud in here.... esp in trams here... gosh... if a group of indonesian come up... their conversations can be heard to the back of the tram... we all just said... "heuheue.. indo... as always... ;D" tho it s not always indo......
