Let's talk about the upcoming WC3 expansion ;)

Beberapa di antara kalian mungkin udah pada bosen sama game yg satu ini... tapi expansionnya bentar lagi keluar and definitely a must-buy... look at the features !!!

Quoted from an Australian PC Gaming Magazine
War3Expansion is scheduled for release in Summer 2003!
It’s been less than a year, but already WarCraft 3 has proven itself to be every bit the blockbuster that Blizzard was hoping for and that fans were expecting. So with over 2 million in sales and scores of positive reviews, what else is there to expect from this role-playing strategy game? A lot, as it turns out.

Like the StarCraft expansion, WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne is continuing a Blizzard tradition and adding loads of new content, including new campaigns for each race, new heroes, new units, new upgrades, an improved world editor, general gameplay enhancements, and highly-anticipated Battle.net upgrades. About the only thing that isn’t in is a whole new race, but with all the goodies in Frozen Throne there should be more than enough to please even the most die-hard WarCraft 3 fans.

Storyline

Many months have passed since Archimonde and the Burning Legion were defeated at the Battle of Mount Hyjal…
The stalwart night elves, led by the Arch Druid, Furion Stormrage and the Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind, have vanished back into the shadows of Ashenvale Forest - intent to heal the ancient lands that were scarred by the Legion’s vile corruption.

The battle-weary orcish Horde, led by the idealistic Warchief, Thrall, has settled in the harsh, eastern hills of the Kalimdor Barrens. Finally able to claim a homeland of their own, the orcs work tirelessly to found and protect their new nation of Durotar.

The human survivors of Lordaeron, under the command of the Sorceress, Jaina Proudmoore, have also settled along the eastern coast of the Barrens. The island citadel of Theramore was erected to safeguard the last, rag-tag remnants of the failing human Alliance.

…And Arthas, the newly crowned King of Lordaeron, has driven the undead Scourge to eradicate the last vestiges of resistance to his iron rule. His kingdom - the once proud bastion of human might and nobility - has become a plagued realm of death and sorrow. Now, driven by haunting visions of the Frozen Throne of Icecrown, Arthas plans to tighten his grip over the rest of the world.

...Still, one dark soul still remains at large…

For in some shadowed corner of the world, the wayward creature known as Illidan Stormrage plots… and awaits…

Due to popular demand...

This does not include new features for the most part. These are listed in the readme text of the expansion.

Various Global Changes:

- Gold bounties given for killing creeps have been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, especially on lower-level creeps. We made this change because players were creeping to the exclusion of other major strategies such as pure teching and rushing.

- In conjunction with this change, we have reduced the gold cost of all buildings and units besides Altars, Farms and Barracks equivalents by 15%. This was done to preserve the overall game speed, while allowing players the ability to switch around their technology choices in the late game a bit more.

- Low-level creeps (6-) now behave differently. They prefer to attack the first thing they see now, as opposed to the previous behavior, which caused them to prefer to NOT attack heroes. This makes creeping more difficult for some heroes, and easier for others. Additionally, this means that you can no longer control creeping routes with solo creeping heroes activating creeps on their opponents.

Items:

The items system has been revamped. Items used to be levels 1-10 with most item levels having one general type of item, such as usable items, tomes, etc. There were a total of 10 levels of items.

The new system has 8 levels of items, and multiple categories. Items are classified as permanent items, charged items, powerups or artifacts. Item drops have both a level and a category. For instance, one particular camp might drop level 3 charged items, while another might drop level 3 permanent items.

Permanent items are items that give passive or reusable abilities. Orb of Fire, Ring of Protection +3, and Staff of Teleportation are permanent items.

Charged items are items with limited uses. Wand of the Wind, Stone Idol, and Crystal Ball are charged items.

Artifacts are any exceptionally powerful items, namely items of level 7 or higher. Mask of Death and Claws of Attack +15 are Artifacts.

Powerups are items that give you an immediate benefit when you pick them up. Tomes have always been intended as powerups, but have only recently been implemented that way. It is quite possible that we will add new types of powerups during the beta.

Additionally, we have made a number of minor changes to items to improve overall balance, and have tweaked the relative levels of items as well. For instance, Belts of Giant Strength +6 and Boots of Quel’Thalas +6 are now much lower level than before, because we felt they were not nearly as strong as their old level expressed.

New Armor and Weapon Types:

Information on new damage types is available at:

http://www.battle.net/war3/basics/armorandweapontypes.shtml

All of these changes are related to spellcasters.

Spellcaster Rebalance:

Most spellcasters (Sorceress, Priest, Shaman, Witch Doctor, Necromancer, Banshee, Druid of the Talon) have been re-balanced. In general, units with piercing damage rip up spellcasters, while basic melee units, such as ghouls or footmen, are weak against spellcasters. The specific changes to the units in question are:

- As mentioned in the new armor and weapon types entry, they have a new armor type, “unarmored”, which takes bonus damage from siege and piercing attacks.

- They also have a new damage type, “magic”, which does reduced damage to fortified and hero armor, but does bonus damage against medium armor.

- They had their damage adjusted, typically downwards.

- They no longer gain damage as they go up in level, and gain less hitpoints as they go up in level (but start with more hitpoints when initially built)

- Many autocast buffs and debuffs have been rebalanced at a lower cost, or increased power.

Advanced Structures:

Most advanced technology structures had their build times reduced. This reduction ranged from 20 seconds for especially underused structures, to 10 seconds for less underused structures. For instance, the Slaughterhouse builds 20 seconds faster now, while the Arcane Sanctum build time was only reduced 10 seconds.

Magic Immune and Ethereal Units:

Magic-Immune units can now be affected by certain abilities (see below under “Spells and Abilities”). Additionally, units with “magic” damage type can no longer hit magic-immune units.

Units can become ethereal in certain situations. Ethereal units can only be damaged by Magic attacks (from casters such as Sorceresses, Banshees, etc) and by spells. Ethereal units cannot attack, but can still cast spells.

Spells and Abilities:

We have improved the spells and abilities system of Warcraft 3 in a number of ways.

The least significant change is that all direct-damage spells that do not affect buildings, no longer affect mechanical units. This was done to make siege units harder to counter.

The more significant change was a reworking of how spells and abilities interact with magic immunity.

Spells now come in three varieties: Physical, Magical and Universal.

Physical spells cannot be dispelled, do affect magic immune units and normal units, and do not affect ethereal units.

Magical spells can be dispelled by normal dispels, do not affect magic-immune units, and affect ethereal units and normal units.

Universal spells can work against anything, and cannot be dispelled. They include ultimates and healing spells. The universal designation was added for two reasons. First, players accurately noted that it feels unsatisfying when an ultimate does nothing, so we now ensure that this is less likely to happen. Secondly, it was odd that magic immunity was discouraging unit mixing, when every other unit in the game encourages it. By allowing heals to interact with them, we are encouraging unit mixing. We also felt that every unit should be able to be healed or repaired.

Physical spell Examples:

- Poison of various types (NOT shadowstrike)
- Ensnare & Web
- Critical Strike/Bash/other attack buffers
- Disease

Magical Spell Examples:

- Stormbolt
- Carrion Swarm
- Bloodlust
- Polymorph

Universal Spell Examples:

- Heals (besides rejuvenation the bear spell, which is magical)
- Ultimates
- Auras

Dispels:

We have removed Wand of Negation from the game in order to encourage the use of several powerful abilities such as skeletons, frost armor, force of nature, etc. In conjunction with this, every race has at least one additional anti-caster ability or item.

Invisibility:

We have removed the Gem of True seeing from the Goblin Merchant, and added Dust of Appearance, a charged reveal item, to several racial shops and the Goblin Merchant. This change was made to increase the usefulness of invisibility in general.

Poison:

Poison now stacks, though only from differing units. Example: If 1 unit is attacking a target with poison that does 5 damage a second, the unit takes 5 damage a second from poison as long as it is poisoned. Multiple attacks from the same unit do not increase this. If 2 units attack a target, and they posses a poison attack that gives 5 damage a second, the target takes 10 damage a second.

This change affects Dryad poison, Wyvern poison, and the liquid fire ability of Batriders.

We made this change so that players are less discouraged from using focus fire in combat situations.

Note that we adjusted the damage values of Wyvern poison to balance it for this new functionality. It now does 3 damage a second, down from the old value of 8. It also lasts 25 seconds now.

Flying Units:

Flying units can now cluster much like fliers in Starcraft. However, they will prefer to disperse when possible. The goal of this change was to make flying units handle more easily and be more fun to control.

Among other things, this makes it much easier to use melee flying units against other flying units. As a result, air-to-air combat has been rebalanced somewhat.

Orcs:

- Bloodlust cost reduced from 50 mana to 40 mana.

- Raiders now have light armor instead of heavy armor.

- Raider Ensnare lasts 12 seconds, down from 20 seconds, and has a cooldown of 12 seconds, down from 20 seconds.

- Bladestorm cooldown reduced to 3 minutes, down from 4 minutes.

- Killing a unit that triggers the reincarnation ability does not give experience. If you kill one of these units “for good” it does give experience, however.

Humans:

- The bug that caused Heal to autocast significantly slower than manual cast has been fixed -- Autocast Heal is approximately 65% better now.

- Inner Fire cost increased to 35, from 25.

- Slow duration vs heroes reduced to 10 seconds from 20 seconds.

- Thunderclap debuff is 50% at all levels, and lasts 5/3 at all levels.

- Cannon Towers no longer have minimum range

Undead:

- Curse now causes a 33% chance to miss, up from 25%.

- Curse now lasts 2 minutes, up from 1 minute.

- Web lasts 12 seconds, down from 20 seconds, and has a cooldown of 12 seconds, down from 20 seconds.

- Acolytes now have 220 health, up from 180.

- Necropolis cost reduced to 300 gold, down from 350 gold.

- Gargoyle stone form cooldown has been modified. Gargoyles can always leave stone form, but they must wait 30 seconds before returning to it a second time.

- Carrion Swarm max damage increased to 375/700/1000 from 300/550/800.

Night Elves:

- Owl Scout properly dispelable by all dispel types such as purge, etc.

- Abolish Magic now properly dispels AMS and friendly/neutral wards on command.

- Cyclone duration on units increased from 10 to 20.

- Faerie fire cost reduced to 40 from 75.

- Chimera Roost cost reduced to 230/70 from 280/100

- Ancients temporarily lose their fortified armor when they uproot, becoming heavy armor units.

- Dryads now have the “unarmored” armor type. This change was made to further specialize Dryads as “melee killers”, but allow piercing damage units, such as crypt fiends and archers, to counter them more effectively.

- Demon Hunters can mana burn each other once again.

- Ancients attack while rooted.

- Entangle now interrupts channel spells such as Starfall, Blizzard, etc (*** or rather, will do so in the next beta patch)

- Cyclone can now be dispelled

Item Changes:

- Potion of Restoration now heals 500 health and 200 mana, rather than fully replenishing a hero’s health and mana.

- Scroll of Restoration now heals 300 health and 150 mana, rather than fully replenishing all targets health and mana.

- Some potions now have cooldowns. Cooldowns are listed next to the following potions: Restoration – 40 sec, Healing – 20 sec, Mana – 20 sec, Greater Healing – 40 sec, Greater Mana – 40 sec, Health Stone – 40 sec, Mana Stone – 40 sec.

- Tome of Experience is now of the same level as tome of agility +2, etc.

- Ankh of Reincarnation no longer fully restores a slain hero. Instead, it restores them to 500 health, and restores their mana to the same value it was at when they died.

- Scroll of protection cost reduced to 150

New Items and Buildings
Also being added are numerous new items and several new buildings. There will be two new types of items: magic staves and power-ups. Blizzard now has the ability to add cool down times to items, which means that instead of regulating powerful items by making them charged and consumable, you can now have items with an unlimited number of spell castings, but balanced by a cool down timer so you have to wait between uses. There will be a staff in the game, the staff of preservation, that can transport a unit back to your town hall, similar to town portal except your hero doesn’t go with the unit back, which helps you save a unit from certain death without having to remove all your units and your hero from play. But because of its cool down time, you won’t be able to use it so rapidly in battle. Power ups are also being introduced to the game; these will simply be items that give you a benefit when you pick them up and then disappear before they can even enter your inventory. You might pass over a chest that gives you 500 gold, for instance, or a temporary buff spell.

There will be three very interesting neutral buildings added to the game. One is the Goblin shipyard, where you’ll be able to buy naval transports. With the introduction of the Sunken Ruins tileset, and more island missions, Blizzard thought that it was time to have the ability to move your troops from beach to beach via ship transport.

Neutral Heroes
The second of the new neutral buildings is the Tavern. It’s like the Mercenary Camp, except here you can buy neutral heroes! There will be five neutral heroes available for recruitment here. Blizzard revealed three of them, while the other two are still being discussed. The most fleshed out of the heroes is the Dark Ranger, who is like the corrupted elven ranger Sylvanus Windrunner from the Undead campaign in WarCraft 3. This Dark Ranger will also be featured in the single-player campaign. Among her hero abilities will be silence, which is a spell you cast on spellcasters to prevent them from using magic, and black arrow, which is a perverted version of the Priestess of the Moon’s searing arrows ability. With black arrows, the Dark Ranger will do more damage per shot, but if the target dies from the black arrow, it will rise as a skeleton under your control. Her ultimate spell will be charm, which is essentially mind control. Rob Pardo likens the Dark Ranger to a cross between the banshee and the Priestess of the Moon. There will be a Naga hero available at the Tavern and for those who followed the April Fool’s joke on the Blizzard website last year, a Pandaran hero named the Brew Master.

New Alliance Hero

The new hero is the Blood Mage, a spellcaster who, like the Archmage, can dish out lots of damage but is frail in combat. His spells include flame strike, mana flare, and banish.

Flame strike is an area affect fire spell that can deal several hundred points of damage to all foes caught in the spread, with the greatest damage concentrated in the center. At its highest level, it will be able to take out units like archers and head hunters in one shot. Unlike blizzard, though, it isn’t interruptible. To balance it out, flame strike has a slightly extended casting time, during which you can move out of the way or attack the blood mage. But as soon as the spell is cast, an explosion of fire deals instantaneous damage to all in the blast.

Mana flare is a great way to make enemy spellcasters pay for using magic. It is a buff that you can cast on your own units and anytime an enemy caster uses a spell near the buffed unit, a fork of energy will attack the offending caster, dealing damage proportional to the mana spent. That means an enemy sorceress will kill herself instantly if she tries to cast polymorph on your mana flared knight. Likewise for a banshee that attempts possession or a necromancer that tries to cast cripple.

Banish is a spell that removes a unit from play, but only for a brief time. When you cast banish on an enemy unit or hero, it turns into a ghost, unable to interact with the world. It can’t cast spells, attack or be attacked. However, it can still move. The duration isn’t great (it does improve with level), but it’s long enough to remove a creep leader from play while you destroy all his minions, or render a hero useless while you mop up his troops.

The blood mage’s ultimate is called Mark of Chaos, and it turns a single friendly unit into a demon. Any unit will do, from a peasant to a knight. Once transformed, the unit becomes a powerful demon unit for a long duration. At this moment in the beta, that unit is a Doom Guard, but in the final version it will be more powerful than an Infernal. Pardo reasons that the Mark of Chaos should be more powerful, since it has to use an existing unit as the seed and has no secondary effect, like the Infernals initial stun.

New Alliance Units

WarCraft 3: The Frozen Throne will offer four new heroes, and at least 8 new units. All of the Human Alliance’s new units are Blood Elves. One of them, the dragon hawk, we already saw in the Undead campaign of WarCraft 3. However, it is being enhanced for the expansion. The dragon hawk’s primary function will be to assist in laying siege to enemy bases. It has an ability called cloud that it can cast over enemy towers, rendering them useless. While under a cloud, a tower will be unable to attack, letting your own units move in to destroy them without fear of being hit. Cloud will not work against units. The visual effect of the cloud spell is excellent, as you see the shrouded silhouettes of your footmen within the rolling fog. The dragon hawk will retain its attack as well, but at this point, Pardo says the attack might change as the dragon hawk finds its niche between the existing gyrocopter and griffon rider. The other new Human unit is the spellbreaker, and it will be analogous to the Night Elf dryad. It’s designed to neutralize enemy magic, but it does it in a creative way. The spellbreaker has one spell called Spell Stealing, which steals buffs from enemy units. The spellbreaker then turns around and casts the buff on your own unit. So if a group of bloodlusted grunts rush up to your footmen, your spellbreaker can take bloodlust off the Orcs and cast it on your footmen. Not only do his troops loose the benefits of bloodlust, but now you gain them instead. Spellbreakers can raise their shields, during which time they are immune to all magic. As an anticaster, the spellbreaker won’t have magic upgrades, but will have a potent attack and benefit from attack and armour upgrades. Both the spellbreaker and dragon hawk will be built from the Arcane Sanctum.

New Night Elf Units and Hero

The new NE units include a welcome enhancement in the melee department. The new mountain giant is a hulking unit that is much larger than a tauren. At nearly 2000 hit points, it is a damage sink, able to absorb loads of punishment that would otherwise kill hapless NE archers. The mountain giant also has a melee siege attack that destroys buildings quickly. So how do you ensure that other units don’t just avoid the mountain giant and concentrate on your archers and casters? The mountain giant has the taunt ability, which when used, forces nearby enemy units to disengage from their current targets and attack the giant. It’s the perfect way to save your troops, and with the giant’s high hit points and armour, the giant will be able to stand up to the attacks while your thankful ranged units cut down the taunted units. But Blizzard doesn’t intend for you to just crank out mountain giants thinking their high health and damage will make them ultimate units. They’ll be expensive and very food heavy, around 7 food, and in toe-to-toe battles with other heavy melee units, like the Tauren, they’ll loss because they do siege damage and they cost more. The other NE unit is still being mulled over, mostly because Blizzard concedes the NE are so well-designed already, with no obvious holes that need fixing.

The new hero, though, gives the NE another alternative to melee battles. The Warden, who is also the focus of the NE campaign, is an assassin-like unit with a very high melee attack but low armour and hit points. To help it in its role as a hit and run specialist, it will have the blink and fan of knives abilities.

Blink is a short-range teleport spell that lets the Warden move anywhere within a screen’s length. At higher levels it will be cheaper and easier to cast. With it, the Warden can move across rivers, teleport away from harm’s way, or teleport in to make a quick attack.

Fan of knives is an attack spell that does damage to all enemy units near the warden. It has a damage cap and all damage dealt is divided among all foes in the area. If the fan of knives does 500 damage and there are 5 units nearby, then each suffers 100 damage. If there are two units nearby, then each suffers 250. At higher levels, the ability will do more damage. It does not however, have long range, so the Warden has to be close to use it.

Her ultimate spell is called Spirit of Vengeance, and like the Human paladin’s resurrection ultimate, it uses the dead bodies of your own units. It summons a huge shadowy spirit unit that has high hit points and a devastating attack. And while it uses your dead, it doesn’t consume their corpses, so they’ll still be available for friendly (or unfriendly) resurrection or animate dead spell.

New Orc Heroes

The Orcs are undergoing some much-needed improvements. At this point, they’re poor at dispelling magic, healing, and air capabilities. All these are being addressed with their new hero and units, and the unique items available at their shop.
The new Orc hero is the troll Shadow Hunter, a supporting spellcaster who is a little stronger than the Farseer in terms of durability. It’s his spells that really make him powerful, and the current favourite new hero at Blizzard. His spells are hex, healing wave, and serpent ward.

Hex is basically polymorph, and it turns any unit, including heroes, into a critter. The ability to hex heroes sounds devastating, but like other spells, hex has a shorter duration for heroes than it does for regular units. Still, being able to turn an enemy hero into a chicken is well-worth it. Unlike polymorph, hex turns the target into a random animal, so you could populate the battlefield with sheep, chickens, pigs and other critters. As you level up this spell, its duration extends.

Healing wave gives the Orcs early healing capabilities. It operates in all ways like chain lightning, except it heals your friendly units.

Serpent ward continues the troll caster theme, and plants a translucent cobra-shaped ward on the ground. It has a very high piercing attack, and lasts quite a long time, although it cannot move and has low hit points. But it does give the Orcs another high-powered attack in battle, and it can hit ground or air units. As it increases in level, it does more damage. Aside from the cool down on this spell, there is no limit on the number of serpent wards you can have at a time, unlike the farseer’s spirit wolf spell. The shadow hunter’s ultimate spell is voodoo. Like starfall and earthquake, it needs to be channeled, but while it is being cast, all your nearby friendly units are completely invulnerable to attack and spells. The only way to stop these units is to kill the Shadow Hunter or wait for the spell to end. This ultimate makes the Orcs absolutely devastating at destroying towns.

Orc Units and Items

One of the new units for the Orcs is still being designed, but the other is the trolls bat rider, an air unit out of the bestiary. It is a tier two unit, so it is available fairly quickly. It has an air to ground siege attack, so it is good at taking down buildings, but it is also has an answer for enemy air units. The bat rider will start play with the unstable concoction ability. It lets your rider ram into an unfriendly flyer and detonate, doing damage to the enemy unit. The explosion, which concentrates in the center and does less damage to the outer ring, should be strong enough to take down a gargoyle or similar unit. The bat rider can also research the liquid fire upgrade, which lets it do damage over time to buildings it attacks, and also prevents those buildings from being repaired. In addition to the new unit and heroes, Blizzard anticipates that it will make a change to the raider, to make it more resilient during town sieges and more durable against air units. The enhancement might be as simple as a change in armour class, but the specifics remain to be seen. Lastly, the Orc voodoo lounge, some of the unique Orc items you will be able to buy are the wand of neutralization and healing salves. The wand of neutralization is a three charge item that casts a chain lightning version of dispel magic, giving the Orcs the much-needed ability to cancel enemy magic without having to use the cumbersome purge spell. Healing salves is yet another new healing method for the Orcs, being another three-charge item that you apply to any unit, which then gains regeneration for up to 400 hit points (perhaps similar to the NE rejuvenation spell). The healing salve, which will be available as tier one item, should make it easier for Orc players to creep in the early game and preserve their first few units.

New Undead Hero and Units

The new hero is the Crypt Lord, a massive beetle who is meant to be the Scourge’s answer to the Tauren Chieftain. It gives the undead a tank-like hero that can mete out lots of melee punishment and soak up lots of damage. His abilities include impale, carrion scarabs, and thorny shield.

Impale is an attack that tosses the target in the air, doing lots of damage and stunning the opponent.

Carrion scarabs uses corpses, spawning one scarab per corpse. A scarab is a small beetle unit, but unlike other summoned creatures, it is permanent until destroyed. At level one, you can have up to four scarabs, while at level three, you can have six. And as you upgrade the ability, your scarabs don’t have a timer and you can have so many at level one, Blizzard anticipates that players will be able to creep very easily in the early game with the Crypt Lord, or even attempt early strikes at enemy players. Thorny shield is a passive damage shield. It not only gives bonus armour to the Crypt Lord, but it also returns a percentage of damage dealt on the hero back to the attacking unit.

Finally, his ultimate spell is locust swarm. It’s also an area effect attack spell that is not interruptible. Once cast, a massive swarm of buzzing insects assault all units in the area. Locust swarm will be roughly as powerful as blizzard, but not as strong as starfall.

Of the undead’s new units, one of them is the aforementioned scarab. The other is the skeletal mage, which comes about once you research the new Skeletal Mastery at the Temple of the Damned. Once done, it will allow the necromancer to raise one skeletal mage and one skeleton warrior from a corpse, instead of two warriors. The mage has no spells but has a fiery ranged attack. It’s basically a skeleton that can attack from range, but it now makes it much easier for an Undead player to get the full benefit from his massive horde of raised skeletons. Blizzard will design another Undead unit, but at this point it’s not clear what niche that unit will fill. But, the designers have already decided to enhance some units. Crypt fiends will now have the ability to burrow, an upgrade you can research fairly early. It allows the fiends to hide underground, where they can regenerate while remaining unseen. Scarabs, as well, will be able to burrow. In fact the crypt fiends aren’t the only units that will be improved, as Blizzard is taking a long look at the underused units, like the Human steam tank and Orc head hunter, and thinking of upgrades to give them to make them more useful.

The Undead army also gets one more new unit, but he does double duty as two. To start with, the player can spawn an Obsidian Statue, a ground-based unit with minimal offensive capabilities. Think of the Statue as a sort of mana capacitor -- it has abilities that let it absorb incoming spell attacks, convert their magical energy into mana, and then redistribute that mana into the reserves of neighboring heroes and spellcasters. Thus, it serves a useful support role in a magic-focused army, providing it stays protected in the back ranks. If you'd like to see it take a more active role, however, it has a one-shot chance to turn into a Black Sphinx, a flying unit with the ability to attack air and ground units. The Sphinx is a powerful offensive force, and Blizzard is working on tuning ways to let it reflect back enemy spells, or turn their magic against them in other ways.

There are 9 new maps: 1-5 appear on 1v1 games and 5-9 appear on 2v2 games. (NOTE: Islands is currently removed from ladder play, BETA 301)

1. Turtle Rock (Lordaeron Summer)- The map is shaped like a turtle (obviously), the 4 starting locations are located at what would be the turtle's feet. There is also an expansion at the head and tail positions. In the middle there is a new Hero Mercenary Shop, with 4 expantion mines nearby. Fun map with lots of turtles to creep.

2. Hail Stone (Lordaeron Winter)- 4 starting locations in the corners of the map, with an unguarded Hero Mercenary Shop very close. Each starting location has 2 expansions nearby guarded by about 6 creeps ranging level 2-6. Elevated terrain makes everyone go through the middle of the map to get to any other area, and of course the middle is guarded by a very large creep camp.

3. Ice Flow (Northrend)- This map reminds me a bit of Frostsabre. There are 4 starting positions, each shielded by a wall of trees behind the mine, but the trees are located on a raised ledge so you wont have to worry about the enemy "eating through" to your mine. There is a Hero Mercenary Shop very close to each persons start location. Finally there are expansions in each of the corners of the map with a Fountain of Life in the middle of the map.

4. Whirlwind (Barrens)- There are 4 starting locations, each with a nearby Hero Mercenary Shop guarded by three level 2-3 creeps. A goblin merchant is also nearby each players start location. As you enter the middle of the map you will run into level 5-6 owlbears guarding regular mercenary shops. Each player natural expansion is guarded by a 5 pigmen group that is found on scorched basin, they cast healing wards and spirit pigs.

5. Islands (Sunken Ruins)- A very interesting 4 player map that starts each player on an island. At each island there a shop, guarded by low level creeps, that sells the new Goblin ship transports. There are various other islands each with their own expansions, and there is one large island in the middle of the map that has Mercenary shop and the new Market Place Shop.

6. Tanaris (Barrens)- There are 4 starting locations, 2 located on the far right side of the map, and the other two located on the far left. Between each start location is a Fountain of Life. Towards the middle of the map there are 6 expansion mines and 4 goblin shops. Fun map, with plenty of high level Centaurs and Pigmen to creep.

7. A Bridge too Near (Lordaeron Summer)- There are 4 starting locations in the corners of the map. Going out from each players start location are 2 bridges that lead to expansions. Towards the middle of the map there are many creep camps ranging levels 3-6. In the very center, there is a shop surrounded by trees.

8. Wheel of Chaos (Ashenvale)- There are 6 starting locations and a circular pattern, with 6 additional expansions located an the edge of the circle. In the middle of the map there are two goblin labs, but no creeps guard them. There are also additional shops and mines on the very edges of the map, but they are only accessible via goblin zepplins.

9. Stranglethorn Vale (Sunken Ruins)- Very cool looking map with one of the new tile sets. Standard 6 starting locations, but with no expansions. The creep camps are few and far between. The creeps are low level as well. This map is definitely focused on finding and destroying your opponent.

When you enter a new game one of the first things you will notice is that the creeps are now marked with either a small grey circle or large one depending on the level of the creeps. When you clear the creeps out the circles disappear. A great addition!

Some changes that effect every race are every race has a researchable upgrade at their town hall (125gold 75wood), which gives their ground units 2 inventory slots. They dont receive the bonus from the items, but usefull none the less to hold items for your heros if they have no room. If they die while carrying an item, it is placed on the ground. Stat increasing tomes are used directly when you click on them when they are on the ground. This means you no longer have to drop an item from your full inventory, pick up the tome, click it, then pick up the dropped item.

When you build buildings now, a "shadowed building" appears when you place it on the map, then your peon goes to the area and begins to build. This allows for buildings to be queued up. You can also queue upgrades now as well!

Exhume Corpses 150gold 75wood: Upgrade for meat wagons, supposed to allow meat wagons to generate corpses.

Burrow upgrade for Crypt Fiends 100gold 50wood: Scarabs do not need this upgrade to burrow, they have the ability automatically past L2. When burrowed the crypt fiend regenerates 10 Hps a second ontop of regen bonuses from Unholy Aura and Blight Aura. This upgrade is a must if you are going to be making Crypt Fiends. When ever you enter a battle watch your fiends health closely. When one falls below 50% or so, burrow it. It will be full health in no time, and you can save your Death Coil for more important units. It is also very useful for early game creeping if you chose a hero other than the Death Knight. You can always burrow them and use them as scouts, but at 3 food apiece it will hurt your upkeep.

Aura of Blight 150gold 100wood: Increases the Hp regen aura given by statues.

Sphinx form upgrade 150gold 75wood: allows statues to become sphinx's for 85gold 35wood, they morph instantly without build time.

Hero
Crypt Lord- Strength based hero with mellee attack.

Spell 1- Impale 75mana (Flings the target into the air, interupting any channeling spell): L1 100 damage. L2 200 damage. L3 300 damage.

Spell 2- Spiked Carapace (He has spikes pop out when you chose this skill, much like orc buildings. Looks very cool): L1 15% damage returned, 2 armor. L2 25% damage returned, 4 armor. L3 35% damage returned, 6 armor.

Spell 3- Scarabs 30 mana, can autocast (You can have up to 5 at all times and they have the burrow ability after L2): L1 140 Hps 7-8 damage. L2 260 Hps 13-16 damage. L3 380 Hps 19-24 damage.

Ultimate-Locust Swarm 180 mana. Ok, this is really cool. When you use this a bunch of flies come out from under the Crypt Lords carapace. Think about a Protoss Carrier from starcraft, but the flies cannot be targeted like interceptors. The damage they do is NOT AE, but it does attack many units all around the Crypt Lord. The flies seem to go from target to target ripping them to shreds all while giving life back to the Crypt Lord. Duration 30 seconds. Its not channeled, so you can activate it and run around.

Units
Obsidian Statue 200gold 35wood 2food: Statues have no attack, 1 Fortified 1 Armor, 500 HPs, and 400 mana. They give off a Hps regen aura that regens at about the same rate as standing on blight. When you get the upgrade for the aura, the regen rate is considerably faster. They also have a mana transfer spell. They take mana from the targeted unit, so you can then transfer the mana to a unit that can make better use of it. Last, but not least, is there ability to give out mana like a moble moon well (you can turn on autocasting). They generate .5 mana per second.

Sphinx 100gold 50wood 2food: 800 Hps, 400 mana, Heavy armor, 27 Magic damage. Once you have 2 or more Obsidean Statues, start morphing them into Sphinx's. They have a mass buff/debuff dispell ability called Devour Magic that cancels all magic in AE 600 giving the sphinx 25 Hps and 50 mana for each spell dispelled. It will also do 100 damage to summoned units. Costs no mana to cast, but has a cooldown of 12 seconds. They also have an autocast spell called Orb of Annihilation, costs 25 mana, and that adds 12 to their damage and gives splash damage aswell.

Neutral Heroes
You may buy a neutral hero for free if it is your first hero.

The new Mercenary Hero Shops not only sell the neutral heroes, but also allow you to revive your slain heroes instantly. Doing this costs 2.5x more than reviving from your alter, but its well worth the trade. Many players will place a "peon" at a Mercenary Hero Shop so they can instantly get their Heros back in the action if they are slain. Be careful of this nasty tactic on maps like Ice Flow and Hail Stone where the Hero Shops are extremely close to everyones start location. Your opponent may rush you and send a peon to the shop. As soon as his hero falls, he revives it instantly and continues to devastate your economy!

Dark Ranger- Agility based hero with ranged attack. (she is undead)

Spell 1- Silence Stops all enemys in the AE from casting spells. 75 mana and 15 second cooldown: L1 AE range 150, duration 16(8) sec. L2 AE range 250, duration 20(10) sec. L3 AE range 350, duration 24(12) sec.

Spell 2- Black Arrow 6mana (autocast, creates a skeletal warrior on a killshot): L1 5 damage, 200 Hp skeleton. L2 10 damage, 300 Hp skeleton. L3 15 damage, 400 Hp skeleton.

Spell 3- Life Drain 75mana Lasts 8 secs, takes life from target and gives to the Dark Ranger (spell is channeled): L1 20 Hps a second. L2 35 Hps a second. L3 50 Hps a second.

Ultimate- Charm 125 mana, Level 6 creep limit: Takes control permanently of the targeted unit or creep. 45 second cooldown.

Items
New to the expansion is the ability to sell items to vendors. If you just got your 3rd Cloak the Shadows and your running out of room in your inventory, run back to your shop and trade in your "worthless" items for much needed gold.

Potion of Omnisicence- (NOTE: Removed from the game BETA 302) Dropped off a level 6 creep, reveals the entire map for 30 secs.

Potion of Restoration- 500 Hps, 200 Mana.

Staff of Silence- Unlimited charges with about an 60 sec cooldown. Prevents all units in the target area from casting for a short ammount of time.

Wand of Mana Stealing- Dropped of a level 5 creep, steels 50 of targets mana and give it to your hero. 2 charges.

Runed Bracers- Reduces magic damage done to your hero by 33%.

Amulet of Spell Shield- Blocks one enemy spell cast on your hero every 40 seconds.

Staff of Teleportation- Teleports your hero to a targeted friendly structure or ground unit. Same cast time and graphic as Arch Mages mass teleport. Unlimited charges, 60 second cooldown.

Orb of Darkness- Adds 6 bonus damage to your hero's attack. Allows Mellee heros to attack air units. Creates a Dark Minion on a killing blow of an enemy unit. The Dark Minion last 80 seconds.

Staff of Negation- Dispells all magical effects in the area, and deals 200 damage to summoned units. Cooldown 7.5 seconds.

Amulet of the Wild- Summons a Furbolg Warrior. Lasts 180 seconds. The Furbolg warrior has Command Aura and War Stomp

Ice Shard- Summons an Ice Revenant. Lasts 180 seconds. The Ice Revenant has L1 Nova and 20% Vampiric Aura

Potion of Divinity- Turns the Hero invulnerable for 30 seconds.

Tome of Power- Give your Hero a level's worth of experience points.

Goblin Merchant
- In Frozen Throne, the Goblin Merchant underwent a complete revamp. Items such as the Wand of Negation and Gem of True Seeing have been completely removed from the game. Here is the list of new items:

Available from the start-
Circlet of Nobility 125gold: Add's 2 to each of your Heros stats.
Periapt of Vitality 350gold: Adds 150 Hps.
Boots of Speed 150gold: Adds 60 to your hero's run speed. Multiple boots will stack.
Dust of Appearance 75gold: Reveals enemy invisible units in a target area. Lasts 20 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
Staff of Teleportation 200gold: Teleports your hero to a targeted friendly structure or ground unit. Same cast time and graphic as Arch Mages mass teleport. Unlimited charges, 60 second cooldown.

Available 7 minutes into the game-
Scroll of Healing 250gold: Restore 150 Hps to all friendly non-mechanical units in the area. Like all scrolls/potions they have a cooldown of 20 seconds or so.

Scroll of Protection 150gold: Adds 2 armor to all friendly units in the area for 30 seconds. Be careful using these around Sphinx's, you will be feeding them tons of mana and hitpoints when they devour magic. Alternately, UD players grab some scroll before going into battle and Devour them as your Sphinx's are near death!

Scroll of Town Portal 350gold: You know the drill.

Potion of Invisibility 100gold: Hero becomes invisible for 2 minutes or until he attacks. Check out Neobie's Item Guide in the WarCraft III forum for advanced tactics on this one.

Tome of Retraining 300gold: Everyone wanted this and finally Blizzard has answered! Allows you to respend Hero ability points. Some possible uses: Crypt Lord users may wish to use Scarabs early on for creeping, but before you engage your opponent retrain your points into Impale. If you happened to go Thunder Clap with your Mountain King, only to find out that your opponent power creeped his Priestess of the Moon to level 6 and Star Fall. Grab of Tome of Retraining fast and put a point into Storm Bolt.

Potion of Lesser Invulnerability 100gold: Turns your hero invulnerable for 7 seconds. Best used when your hero comes under focus fire and their health is dropping fast.

invul = can't be target...
hehe jadi satu2nya musuh yg bisa di target di daerah itu cuma orc heronya sendiri... and itu dia vulnerable...
so it makes him a very sitting D-U-C-K... :D
so diragukan bisa tahan 30 menit kecuali dianya ditaro paling belakang hehe

nah yg bikin gue curious tuh ini :
kalo ada satu tim pake orc 2-2nya... heronya sama2 shadow hunter and ultimatenya dijalanin bareng2...
apa mereka 2-2nya invul ? :D

aFTeRLiFe
March 15, 2003, 15:28

weiwei
March 15, 2003, 15:55
hehe baguslah ada yg setuju sama daku :D

starfall aja udah not-so-sakti anymore kalo pemaennya udah kaga pemula mah... pake sleep, stormbolt dll ;) ya kan ?

yg interesting sih unit biasa bisa diupgrade bawa item...
nah ini bakalan makan lebih byk memory lagi dha pasti...
minimum req nya Frozen Throne kayanya bakalan naek :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BETA PATCH 304
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

2003-MAR-19

BALANCE CHANGES

We have made numerous changes to improve the strategic depth of WC3: The
Frozen Throne. Please try new strategies!

BUILDING & UPGRADE CHANGES

- Players now start with 500 gold and 150 lumber, down from 750 gold and
200 lumber.
- Barracks-equivalents and Altars are much less expensive.
- Technology structures, in general, cost more lumber, while costing less
gold. This was part of an effort to make various strategies have a wider
window of opportunity, as well as to decrease the cost of switching
strategies.
- Town Hall-equivalents and the Haunted Gold Mine cost more lumber.
- Town Hall-equivalent upgrades cost more gold and a lot more lumber.
- Most upgrades cost more lumber and less gold.
- Upgrades other than attack/defense upgrades tend to have lower research
times now.
- Humans and Undead both have new towers, the Arcane Tower and the Nerubian
Tower, respectively, which are designed to discourage Hero harassment.
- Shop hit points have been significantly reduced, as they should be a prime
target when attacking a base.

weiwei
March 22, 2003, 16:36
Damage and Combat Hierarchy Changes:

- Normal damage now does 70% damage to buildings, up from 50%.
- Heroes now have the aptly-named 'Hero' damage type, which works much
like Normal damage, except it only does 50% damage against buildings,
and 100% damage against Light armor. This was done primarily so that
Heroes no longer strongly counter tier-1 ranged units.
- Piercing damage now does 200% damage to Heavy armor, up from 150%. This
change was made to ensure that Archers and other ranged units can
effectively counter air units.
- Magic damage now deals 75% damage against Light armor units, as Light
armor units typically are supposed to counter units that deal Magic
damage.
- Tier-3 melee units now have Medium armor in order to encourage their use,
and make them more dangerous.
- Siege units have been significantly improved by increasing their range
and speed.
- Heavy air units such as Gryphon Riders and Frost Wyrms now deal Magic
damage, which makes them very effective against Medium armor units, and not
so effective against Light armor units, which are supposed to counter them.
- Air units OTHER than heavy air units have for the most part been
rebalanced. You may notice different damage values and other
differences.
- All air units now have Heavy armor.

Experience-Related Changes:

- Kills made when no Hero is nearby still result in your Heroes' receiving
experience. If one Hero is nearby, but another is not, only the nearby
Hero gains experience. This change was made to encourage the use of air
mobility in harassing an opponent.
- High-level creeps and units give significantly less experience.
- High-level creeps have Medium armor now.
- Low-level Heroes take 30% longer to revive. Heroes of level 4 and higher
still take the maximum of nearly 2 minutes to revive.
- Units killed by buildings no longer give experience.

weiwei
March 22, 2003, 16:37
Maps:

- (4)BridgeTooNear: Goblin Laboratories are now gold mines. Starting gold
mines and expansions have reduced gold. Tree circle in middle has thin
wall of trees instead of thick wall of trees.
- (4)HailStone: Moved the Tavern out of player's base and replaced with a
large creep camp. Removed 4 expansion gold mines and replaced them with
Taverns and creep camps. Beefed up a gold mine.
- (4)IceFlow: All gold mines have been reduced.
- (4)Islands: Changed creep camps at Goblin Shipyards.
- (4)Tanaris: Middle is now a gold mine. Made creep camps stronger at
Laboratory and gold mines. Ripped out the medium-sized creep camps. All
gold mines reduced slightly.
- (4)Turtle Rock: Starting gold mines reduced slightly. Tertiary gold mines
reduced significantly.
- (4)WhirlWind: Removed Mercenary Camps and some creep camps. Replaced with
high ground, a Tavern, and a strong creep camp.
- (6)WheelofChaos: One Goblin Laboratory replaced by a Marketplace. All
Marketplaces around the outside became Goblin Laboratories. Gold mine and
Laboratory islands are now connected. Island gold mine creep camps are now
stronger.
- (6)StranglethornVale: Starting gold mines are reduced. Mercenary Camps
are now gold mines with strong creep camps. Neutral buildings altered in
the middle of the map.

Item Changes:

- Clarity Potions, Healing Salves, and Scrolls of Regeneration all have
their effects dispelled when units under their influence attack, are
attacked, cast a spell, or are hit by a spell which does damage.
- Circlet of Nobility price increased to 175 from 125.
- Potion of Lesser Invulnerability now costs 150, up from 100.
- Crystal Ball now has unlimited charges, but a 60-second cooldown. It is
also now a level-5 permanent item instead of a level-2 charged item.
- Staff of Teleportation now costs 100 gold, down from 200, and no longer
randomly drops.
- Orbs no longer cause melee Heroes to deal double damage.
- Adjusted the level of several items.

weiwei
March 22, 2003, 16:38
Human Changes:

- Gyrocopters can now benefit from the new Flak Cannons upgrade, which gives
their air-to-air attack splash damage.
- Gyrocopters have been rebalanced as 1 food units.
- Mortar Teams can now benefit from the Fragmentation Shards upgrade, which
allows them to do increased damage against units.
- Knights adjusted to have a higher damage output, while being the same
overall strength.
- Spell Breakers now have the Feedback ability, which causes their attacks
to remove up to 10 mana from their target. Each point so removed causes
1 point of damage to the target.
- Spell Steal no longer requires an upgrade to use.
- Spell Breakers now have the Control Magic ability, which allows them to
charm enemy summoned units. The spell's cost is relative to the hit points
of the target. Control Magic requires the Control Magic upgrade.
- Blood Mages no longer have the Mana Shield ability, but have gained the
Siphon Mana ability, which is similar to the Dark Ranger's Life Drain,
except it drains mana instead of life from the target.
- Banish can now be cast on oneself, and slows its target by 66%.
- Banished units, by virtue of being ethereal, now take double damage from
Magic and spell attacks. The Sorceress' attack, Storm Bolt, and Flame Strike
are all examples of spells that are doubled in damage by Banish.
- Mark of Fire no longer requires a unit to create--just the spell.
- Dragonhawk Riders now benefit from the Animal War Training upgrade.
- Flame Strike now costs 150 mana to cast, up from 125.
- Flame Strike initial damage/sec reduced to 35/65/90 by level from 45/75/105.
- A bug with Flame Strike was fixed. Now it effectively deals 33%
more damage against units. This means that its values have
effectively been changed to 45/85/120 damage/sec by level.
- War Engine rockets now deal 25 damage down from 75, and have had a range
increase to 500 from 400. Additionally, up to 10 rockets can be fired at
once, up from 3.
- Human Shop no longer sells Scroll of Speed.
- Scout Towers now cost 30/20, down from 70/20.
- Guard Towers now have Light armor, take less time to build, and cost 80/60,
down from 120/60.

Undead Changes:

- Black Sphinx now has the Absorb Mana ability.
- Abominations now have the Cannibalize ability, which works much like the
Ghoul Cannibalize ability, except 1 corpse will not always fully heal an
Abomination.
- When units Cannibalize, the most injured units do so first.
- Obsidian Statues have been significantly changed. They now have only two
abilities: Spirit Touch and Replenish Life. They are auto-cast area-of-
effect mana and health restores which do not stack with other spells of
the same type. Two Sphinxes replenishing mana do not do so faster than 1.
Note that Statues no longer have Aura of Blight, Absorb Mana, or Replenish
Mana.
- Obsidian Statues are once again 3 food in addition to now having 800 hit
points, being able to attack, and having medium armor.
- Black Sphinxes now lose 3 mana per second.
- Devour Magic radius reduced to 250 from 400, but cooldown reduced to 6
from 12.
- The Meat Wagon's corpse-carrying capability has been improved. Cannibalize
and Raise Dead will automatically use corpses in a Meat Wagon as if the
corpses were on the ground.
- Shade speed increased to 350 from 270, but hit points reduced to 125 from
250.
- Scroll of Speed now sold on Tomb of Wonders if a Black Citadel is built.
- A Graveyard is once again required to make Spirit Towers.
- Halls of the Dead hit points reduced to 1750 from 2000.
- Black Citadel hit points reduced to 2000 from 2300.

Orc Changes:

- Catapults now have the Naphtha upgrade, which allows Catapults to cause
an incendiary effect after hitting a target, causing damage to nearby
buildings and units over time
- Level-1 Serpent Ward now has 75 hit points, down from 135.
- Ethereal Spirit Walker hit points increased to 500 from 350.
- Spirit Walkers in ethereal form take double damage from Magic and spell
attacks. The Sorceress' attack, Storm Bolt and Flame Strike are all
examples of spells that do double damage against ethereal Spirit Walkers.
- Disenchant radius reduced to 200 from 400, but mana cost reduced to 50
from 125, and cooldown reduced to 0 from 3.
- Wand of Neutralization now affects 8 targets per use, up from 5.
- Watch Towers now have Light armor, build more quickly, and cost 110/80
down from 155/80.
- Reinforced Burrows upgrade is now called "Reinforced Defenses". It also
costs 50/200, as opposed to 125/75, and now takes 60 seconds to research,
up from 45 seconds. It gives Fortified armor to both Watch Towers and
Burrows.
- Liquid Fire damage/sec reduced to 5/sec from 10/sec temporarily.
- Batrider attack now deals 1d4 + 18 damage, down from 1d5 + 22. This is
a temporary change.

Night Elf Changes:

- Mana Burn cooldown is now 7/6/5 seconds by level, down from 7/7/7 seconds
by level.
- Mana Flare damage cooldown reduced to .75 from 1.5.
- Shadow Strike now affects air units.
- Wisps now move speed 270, up from 220.
- Tranquility cooldown reduced to 60 from 120.
- Tranquility mana cost reduced to 125 from 200.
- Ancients now have Medium armor instead of Heavy armor when uprooted.
- Mountain Giant Hardened Skin now subtracts 15 damage from every attack,
down from 20.
- Spirit of Vengeance has been reworked. You can summon the Spirit of
Vengeance regardless of whether there are corpses nearby. The SoV will
raise invulnerable Spirits from nearby friendly corpses to fight for you.
These Spirits will dissipate if the SoV dies, or if their summon time
elapses.
- Treants (summoned by Force of Nature) now benefit from Nature's Blessing.
- Anti-magic Potion now requires Ancient of Eternity to purchase.
- Clarity Potion no longer sold on Ancient of Wonders.

Neutral Heroes and Units:

- You can now buy the Pandaren Brewmaster and Naga Sea Witch from the
Tavern. Check the bottom of this readme for full details on their
abilities.
- Silence range increased to 900 from 700 to allow for easier use.
- Level-2 and level-3 Black Arrow now create the same Dark Minions as
level-1 Black Arrow.
- Black Arrow damage bonus changed from 5/10/15 to 2/10/20.
- Black Arrow now works on high-level creeps.
- Charm now works on creeps of level 5 or lower, down from 6 or lower.
- Charm mana cost increased to 150 from 125.
- Neutral Heroes are not as quickly available for hire as before.
- Marketplaces have been greatly changed. In no particular order: each
Marketplace has its own stock of items; every 30 seconds, a new item is
added; Marketplaces remove items once they are purchased; Marketplaces
don't stock items until 2 minutes into the game.
- Mercenary camps have a number of new creeps seeking to be soldiers of
fortune! Be sure to check them out!
- Creeps sold at Mercenary Camps and Goblin Laboratories are often
available much earlier than before. Some are available as early as
60 seconds into the game (down from 440 seconds previously)!

Other:

- Second and third Heroes no longer start with Scrolls of Town Portal.
- The allied minimap color filter now has a third state: minimap only. In
this state, units on the main screen will have their own particular
player's color, while units in the minimap will be color coded according
to their team.
- Group-selected buildings now distribute orders properly. For instance,
if you tell two Barracks to research several upgrades and build several
units at the same time, the orders are distributed between them equally.
- Ethereal units take double damage from spell damage and Magic damage.
- All Backpack upgrades now cost 50/25, down from 75/25.

March 22, 2003, 16:40
Neutral Hero Abilities:

Pandaren Brewmaster
* Drunken Haze – Causes the target to become extremely drunk, causing it
to move slowly and miss attacks.
* Breath of Fire – The Brewmaster breathes fire in a short-ranged cone shape,
causing damage to both air units and ground units in the area of effect.
Units which were under the effects of Drunken Haze are set aflame and take
significant damage over time.
* Drunken Brawler – Exactly like Evasion.
* Storm, Earth, and Fire – The Brewmaster splits into three mini-pandas:
Storm, Earth, and Fire. Each is a formidable fighter in its own right,
and possesses at least one ability. All have the Resistant Skin ability.
After the spell duration ends, if any one of the pandas is still alive,
the Brewmaster reforms.
- Storm: Can cast Cyclone, level-1 Wind Walk and Dispel Magic. Has a ranged
attack.
- Earth: Magic immune, has extremely high hit points, and possesses the
Pulverize and Taunt abilities.
- Fire: Has Permanent Immolation and a strong attack.

Naga Sea Witch
* Forked Lightning – Similar to Carrion Swarm. A cone-shaped direct damage
spell which does fixed damage to a certain number of targets.
Amount of damage and number of targets go up with level. This spell is
slightly more powerful than Carrion Swarm, but is also a bit more costly,
and has a slightly longer cooldown.
* Mana Shield – This ability is completely reworked version of the Blood
Mage's old Mana Shield ability. It is now an ability that can be activated
or deactivated, much like Immolation. When it is activated, damage done to
the Sea Witch is instead dealt to her mana pool instead of her health.
* Cold Arrows – Similar to Searing Arrows. Deals bonus damage when turned
on, and also slows the victim's attack rate and movement rate.
* Tornado (ultimate) – Creates a randomly moving Tornado in the area of
effect which causes significant damage to buildings and slows the attack rate
and move speed of units.

ing the "Subgroup Order modifier key" box.

MAJOR FIXES

- Naga Sea Witch movement type is no longer amphibious.

- Added a new map and fixed several others that were not properly
updated in previous patches.

MAP CHANGES

- (6)RiceFields: Added this new map which will initially be enabled for

Selagi nunggu final releasenya , mendingan kita maen tower2an dulu ;D .

Map tower yg "DA BEST !!!" banget saat ini : Hive's Revenge TD (FFA) . Unik banget , maennya ga hanya defense tp juga offense , sifatnya FFA (2-8 orang). Cobain deh .

Emang sih rada2 rumit , soalnya type game kaya gini baru 1 peta ini ajah. Jadi minimal nyoba 2-3 kali lah ;D , dijamin bisa.

di sini mah payah... maennya tower huh... apaan tower2 kaga maju2 taktiknya dah...

khole
March 26, 2003, 15:48
kalo pengen maju , lawannya sama yg jago2 atuh , ikut kompetisi misalnya , lawan clan laen , kalo lawan antar kita2 mah ga akan bisa berkembang . Gwa bosen soalnya lawannya antar kita2 terus.

Gwa sendiri maen just for fun lah , ga perlu sampe serius2 , maen buat cari happy bukan cari stress ;D

weiwei
March 26, 2003, 15:57
lah jelas kemaren2 juga lawan yg laen... ieu kalakah ulin tower...
yg bikin stress tuh orangnya yg rese bukan gamenya...
blom lagi ada satu mahluk egois yg blom apa2 udah maen cs udah gitu ngerasa ditinggalin maen wc3...

jelas2 itu si alry dateng buat apa ?
malah jadi maen tower and maen cs...

khole
March 26, 2003, 16:06

Lagian tower yg gwa maenin sekarang bukan TD yg biasa lagih , TD yg pa jadah2 ;D , lagi pada suka tuh TD yg kaya gitu , si bagong ama iqbal ajah baru 3 kali maen udah ngeraja ;D

Alesannya tim 1 udah solid banget/kompak , tim 2 udah ada veteran BETA (alesan veteran BETA , alesan yg sama sekali ga masuk akal)

Kesimpulan kenapa milih tim lama :
1. Berhubung Tim 1 menang terus , banyak yg akhirnya pengen masuk tim 1 , sedangkan anggota2 tetap Tim 1 ga mau pindah tim , coba ajah salah satu anggota tetap tim 1 pindah tim , urusan ga erlu berlama2 kaya gitu.

2. Biar adil , pembagian tim harus adil. Gwa pernah ga sengaja masuk tim 1 (tim loe wei) lawannya tim 2 anggotanya kacau semua.

3. Nah yg bikin lama tuh robin masuk tim loe , gwa suruh kaya gitu supaya mecah formasi trio/kwartet , berhubung trio/kwartet tsb keukeuh , ya ga selese2 milih timnya.

Makanya kalo lawan antar kita2 gwa ngga se-ngotot kalo lawan clan laen. Milih tim gwa juga nunggu yg laen , yg kurang anggota gwa masukin.

Oya kadang2 bom2 pernah masuk tim gwa , berhubung tim 1 banyak peminatnya (Viras ikut tim 1) , dan si bom2 bilang "Wah ini timnya ga adil nih ...." . Dalam ati gwa bilang "ah , gwa mah dah sering ngalamin hal kaya gini"

otonk juga pernah bilang "Gwa pengen menang , gwa masuk timnya wei ah..". See ?? Tim loe dah pasti menang , jangan cari lawan yg newbie deh. Tarung mendingan jangan lawan antar kita2 deh.

Kalo tim loe kalah , loe BT kan ? , apalagi kalo pas suatu saat maen kalah melulu pasti BT apalagi kalo anggotanya ga kompak/kacau/upacara bendera, nah apalagi gwa yg setiap kali maen anggotanya newbie semua , komar sering masuk tim gwa kalo loe udah mencak2 "Gwa ga mau sama komar , komar payah !". Setiap kali loe ngomong gitu komar langsung masuk tim gwa ;D .

weiwei
March 27, 2003, 06:08
tim gue pasti menang dari mana ? terakhir maen kan kalah ma elu ? tim solid dari mana ? alesan yg tidak masuk akal juga uhaeuhae... lu2 memang veteran wc3 beta kan jago banget tuh... awal2 maen kan kita bertiga keok ma elu and robin...

tim kalah gue bete hueahuau kacau lu... gue marah kalo ada provokator... mo kalah menang sama aja... gue kan udah bilang elu sama gue sama2 pake undead nyobain... lu kaga pernah mau... sentimen ma gue yah ? huaehuae...
gue marah kalo timnya ngga bisa diatur alias kaga kompak... ngeselin soalnya... biarin kalah tapi kompak gue no problem...

apa enaknya maen kalo kalah tapi diomongin and diejek2 diblkg... lagi cs mah kadang2 si mejus suka gitu... kalo elu jadi gue, saya rasa juga kesabaran elu jadi tipis kalo udah lama kelamaan digituin terus... kalau gue menang telak, apa gue ngejek2 yg kalah ? nggak kan ? tapi liat tuh oknum2 angela itu... liat aja kelakuannya... apa ngga bikin bete ?

komar ? yg sering teriak gue ngga mau maen sama komar, tuh si otonk pret... jangan ngomongin gue... yg sering triak2 si komar sama kojut and sunhong harus dipisah tuh si otonk pret... bukan gue... lu nyimak dikit sblm ngomong...
lu bayangin aja bahkan si sunhong pun kesel... gue no problem sama dia... yg teriak sun hong payah siapa ? yg itu oknum2 angela itu...

lah lu bilang sendiri kan : "Menang dari NEWBIE sama sekali worthless" memang worthless... gue bukan nyari menang, tapi nyari kompak dari sananya juga... bukan buat pamer... bukan buat apa2... awalnya juga memang untuk fun... serius hanya untuk bertanding... walau mungkin skrg gue sih udah jadi ngga niat deh ikut pertandingan kalo suasananya kaya gini sih...
kita ini memang mau ngelatih yg baru2 biar kompak... liat aja hasilnya toh... yg dulunya payah jadi bisa mayan... dulu juga awal2nya gue sering kalah dari elu and robin... walaupun memang elu mungkin udah lupa soalnya udah lama... makanya jadi "veteran beta" tapi lupa alesannya kenapa

gue bukan benci kalah, tapi benci ketidakkompakan... kalah mah sering... tanya aja sama alry kemaren maen... gue kalah terus tuh... ngga malu gue ngomongnya juga... 3x 1v1 kalah smua...

wah kasian dah sama posisi elu... pantesan elu bikin tim sisa dunia gara2 itu he eh ? ok sip2 laen kali kalo ngomong tuh langsung aja alesannya kenapa, ngga usah diem2 bikin tim sisa dunia or whatever lah...

rupanya saya ini memang penjahat perang yah ? gue ngga nyadar gue sejago itu kaya yg lu bilang bener2 undefeated... sangking hebatnya gue baru nyadar skrg... uheahuea :P jadi yg kemaren itu pembalasan dendam thd gue yah ? silahkan aja... that's my last game playing with you all dah...
tanpa gue kan tim jadi adil kan ? smua aman sentosa damai tentram... end of problem... :D

btw, menurut catetan gue... tiap kali maen ngga murni 100% menang terus... kemungkinan menang 60% buat smua tim, mau tim sisa dunia or whatever lah... except buat 1 hari itu yg elu kalah terus... and ada beberapa (2-3) hari yg gue memang kalah terus... kalau elu memang ngga nyadar atau ngga inget... atau mungkin ngga ikut main...
dan itu yg milih masuk tim gue kan orangnya sendiri gue sih ngga maksa or ngga ngomong apa2... kecuali untuk saat2 dimana byk provokator... me serasa saddam husseinnya wc3...

ok dah le, sorry kalo gue memang ngeselin or gimana... mungkin memang saya ini org jahat huaeuea :D dan suka memperlakukan org secara tidak adil ? hehe... me udah tawarin lu masuk tim gue, lu kaga pernah mau... jadi apa ini sepnuhnya salah gue ? lagian elu hobinya jadi oposisi terus...

hueahuae sorry all udah ngeflood thread ini sama yg ngga guna... cekcok internal tim wc3

(Warden = my current favorite hero, AM tersingkirkan :D).
Itu spirit of vengeance diganti ga yah? Gue pernah pas udah mao menang si Warden nya lvl 6 (units ga ada yg mati), gue ngeluarin ultimate dia... wueeeh... gile kecil banget spirit nya... kalah besar sama MG :D
itu ultimate dia cuma bagus buat kalo kalah doank jadinya.

aFTeRLiFe
March 28, 2003, 02:47

FoK + FoL = MATI. :(

jadi mau gak mau loe pun harus ikutan pake Sea Witch..

warden hero terkuat ?? hmmm iya juga sih berdasarkan pengamatan sekilas gwa.

Biasanya tuh kalo mo bunuh hero , heronya kita kepung trus kita gebukin rame2 , berhubung warden bunya blink , bisa dgn mudah kabur tuh :(

BTW , model buat warden kok menurut gwa jelek yah , terjelek dari semua hero yg ada.

March 28, 2003, 17:52
yah photo mah beda deui atuh... itu kan diambil juga dari concept art awal...

ya kalo bikin peta terlalu byk lawak kan jadinya bukan adventure RPG tapi comedy RPG... see ? ketoprak humor

lagian kalo elu mau kocak tapi bhs inggris apa bener2 bisa ? :D org bule tuh kocaknya beda... either kasar, reference: see the Osbournes TV Show... hueahuae that's funny and down-to-the-earth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARCRAFT III BETA VERSION HISTORY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BETA PATCH 305
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

2003-MAR-28

Major Fixes:
- We have fixed a bug that occasionally caused unit commands to be ignored
by the game. This most commonly occurred when attempting to use healing
spells while creeping, as the bug was related to adding units to a
selection group and then using an ability.

Item Changes:

- Lion Horn of Stormwind is now a level-4 item.
- Items now have 75 hit points, down from 100.
- Clarity Potion, Scroll of Regeneration and Healing Salve are now
dispelled only when a unit under the effect is hit by an attack or an
offensive spell.
They are no longer dispelled by attacking.

Changes to Neutral Buildings, Units and Heroes:

- Forked Lightning has been rebalanced. It now requires a specific unit
target, and hits 3 targets, down from 4/5/6. It also has had its damage
per target changed to 110/180/250 from 125/160/200.
- Frost Arrows now last 5 seconds, down from 6.
- Delayed the initial availability of various mercenaries, such as the
Makrura Snapper and Goblin Shredder.
- The Pandaren Brewmaster has gained 2 Agility, but lost 1 point of
Strength and 1 point of Intelligence.
- Breath of Fire damage reduced to 70/140/190 from 75/150/200.
- Tornado is now a channeling spell, and does 40 points of damage a second
to buildings, up from 20.

Armor System Change:

We have switched around the naming of certain armor types for conceptual
reasons. Heavy armor became Light armor, Medium armor became Heavy armor,
and Light armor became Medium armor.

- Light armor units, most of which are air units, take bonus damage from
Piercing damage.
- Medium armor units, which include basic ranged units such as Archers, as
well as peon-type units, take bonus damage from Normal damage, and
reduced damage from Magic and Piercing damage.
- Heavy armor units, which include both tier-1 and tier-3 melee, take bonus
damage from Magic damage.

Other:

- No Upkeep is now from 0-50 food, Low Upkeep is now from 51-80 food, and
High Upkeep is now from 81-100 food. This change was made to compensate
for the need to have large amounts of lumber-gathering peons.
- Heroes gain more experience from creeps early on, and less once they hit
level 3. Once they hit level 5, Heroes can only gain experience through
killing units controlled by other players.
- Backpack upgrade now requires a shop.
- Ethereal units, which include Banished units and Spirit Walkers in
Ethereal Form, now take 66% bonus damage from spells and magic, down
from 100% bonus damage.
- Units can never move at a speed slower than 150 (roughly 60% the speed
of a Footman). This means that stacking slow effects such as Slow Poison,
Shadow Strike, Slow, etc. will no longer virtually stop units. Note that
Ancients still move very slowly.
- All standard spellcasters have had their mana regeneration increased by
33%. Examples include Druid of the Claw, Sorceress, Witch Doctor and
Necromancer.
- All workers (Peons, Wisps, etc.) now have Medium type armor, which was
formerly known as Light armor. This means that they take bonus damage
from Normal damage, and reduced damage from Piercing and Magic attacks.

weiwei
March 29, 2003, 08:50
Undead Changes:

- Gargoyle anti-air attack increased by roughly 50%.
- Black Sphinx hit points increased to 900 from 800.
- Obsidian Statue's Replenish Life and Spirit Touch abilities have been
rebalanced. They are much stronger now.
- Obsidian Statue mana regeneration increased to 1.25 from .5.
- Locust Swarm damage has increased 25%, but its life drain rate per
attack has been decreased 25%.
- Units created by Animate Dead are now invulnerable. Note that the creep
version of this spell does not create invulnerable versions.
- Units created by Animate Dead only last 60 seconds now, down from 120.
- Carrion Beetle damage increased by 15% at all levels.

Human Changes:

- Devotion now gives 1.5/ 3 / 4.5 armor per level. Note that this
fractional armor will not show up properly on unit information cards,
but will work properly on units in terms of damage reduction. We are
aware of this bug and will fix it at some point in the future.
- Banish range increased to 800 from 600.
- Banish now halves the speed of units rather than reducing it to 1/3 of
their total speed.
- Banish no longer affects mechanical units.
- Flame Strike now costs 135 mana, down from 150 mana.
- Flame Strike area increased to 225 from 200.
- The spell formerly known as Mark of Fire is now known as "Phoenix".
- Phoenix cooldown increased to 180 from 120.
- Phoenix mana cost increased to 175 from 125.
- Phoenixes now shed feathers, which cause both initial damage as well as a
certain amount of damage over time to nearby hostile units. Note that
the graphics and effects of this spell are temporary, though the
functionality is done.
- When a Phoenix dies, it becomes a Phoenix Egg. If the Phoenix Egg is not
destroyed within 10 seconds, the Phoenix will be reborn.
- Phoenixes only lose 10 hp a second now, down from 14 hp a second.
- Casting Phoenix when you already control a Phoenix results in the original
Phoenix's being destroyed, in much the same manner as Feral Spirit.
- Blacksmith cost changed to 140/60 from 120/120.
- Gyrocopters now deal 1d2 + 5 damage to air units, down from 1d2 + 8.
Note that Gyrocopters with the Flak Cannons upgrade are still extremely
effective against other air units.
- Arcane Tower now deals 20 Feedback damage, down from 25.
- Siphon Mana now drains 12/24/36 mana per second, up from 8/16/24 mana per
second.
- Siphon Mana can now be cast at range 600, up from 500, and will keep
draining until the target is at a distance of 850, up from 800.

Night Elf Changes:

- Huntresses are now Light armor (formerly known as Heavy armor).
- Huntress damage increased to 1d3 + 15 from 1d3 + 14.
- Huntress hit points increased to 600 from 550.
- Archer damage reduced to 1d3 + 15 from 1d4 + 18.
- Archer hit points increased to 310 from 260.
- Cyclone no longer affects mechanical units.
- Shadow Strike move speed reduction is now 50% down from 60%.
- Fan of Knives now deals a maximum of 400/750/1075 damage by level, down
from 450/825/1200.
- Entangled units are now unable to attack, though they can still cast
spells.
- Entangle duration on units reduced to 12/24/36, down from 15/30/45.
- Hippogryph anti-air damage increased by roughly 50%.
- Blink no longer works when the Warden is immobilized.

Orc Changes:

- Spirit Link is now a "chaining" spell which affects 3 targets. It also
now costs 100 mana to cast.

spt yg sdh diduga... Naga Sea Witch paling byk diubah di patch 305 ini :D

- Units created by Animate Dead are now invulnerable. Note that the creep
version of this spell does not create invulnerable versions.
- Units created by Animate Dead only last 60 seconds now, down from 120.

More than a game
To assess its updated Warcraft PC game, Blizzard brings in pros from South Korea, where it has a cult-like following.

"Every gamer's dream is to work for Blizzard or do something in the games industry," said Park through a translator. Park won a recent Warcraft III tournament in Korea to qualify for the trip. "I'm very thrilled to be here."

Blizzard invited the gamers - among the world's top Warcraft experts - so it could get feedback on a pending update of the Warcraft III game, due out this summer.

"Spectacular," said spiky-haired Lee Jung Hun, 21, while intensely hitting keys to maneuver around Warcraft's fantasy world of Azeroth, where humans battle savage orcs, reclusive night elves and the undead. "The update is better than I had expected."

seharusnya ga makan banyak memori sih

kalo ngomong soal programming.. paling data structure buat tiap unit di tambah lagi 1 variable type integer...

yah paling jumlah max unit loe per game 50 unit.. yah kira2 50*4 bytes.. ga sampe 200 bytes kok.

Yuki Terai
April 07, 2003, 03:01
iya, barang-barang yg ga perlu bisa dijual di toko manapun (asal bukan toko musuh)
trus, barang yg dibawa ama unit ga bisa dipake, kalo mo pake musti kasih ke heronya dulu baru dipake ama tuh hero

weiwei
April 07, 2003, 13:54
mmmmmmm kalau unit yg bawa barang gimana kita taunya dari sub-group ? apa ada tanda khusus ?

atrix
April 07, 2003, 20:10

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BETA PATCH 306
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2003-APR-08

MAJOR ADDITIONS
- Added Battle.net Tournament support. We will be running occasional Tour-
naments through out the remainder of the beta.
- Added Icon selection support on Battle.net. Check your profile and click
the "Select Icon" button beneath your profile portrait to select from your
available icons.

BALANCE CHANGES
Maps:

- Turtle Rock – Increased the difficulty of the Goblin Merchant camps,
added Runes and Powerups to several creeps.
- Islands – Replaced the 4 less powerful turtle camps at the center of the
map with less powerful creep camps which drop less powerful items. Tweaked
the corner camps to use level 8 Revenants instead of level 7 Turtles.

Changes to Neutral Buildings, Units and Heroes:

- You can now purchase the Pit Lord and Beastmaster neutral heroes from the
Tavern. Their skill sets are described at the bottom of the patch text
for this version.
- Pandaren Brewmaster starting intelligence increased to 15 from 14.
- Drunken Haze now affects several units and is targeted much like Frost
Nova – the unit you target will always be affected, as will nearby units.
Its cost, cooldown and duration have all been rebalanced to reflect this
change.
- Tornado now tosses units into the air, and has been rebalanced for this
capability. We expect to make further improvements to Tornado in the next
patch, so this functionality is not truly “done” yet.
- Mana Shield has been improved. It now blocks 100% of incoming damage, and
prevents 1, 1.5 or 2 damage per point of mana spent depending on the level
of the ability.
- Forked Lightning damage reduced to 100/175/250 per target by level, down
from 110/180/250.
- Goblin Sappers now deal 750 damage to buildings, 250 damage to all units,
and 185 damage to heroes. These values are reduced by armor values such as
‘5 armor’, but do not interact with armor types (e.g. ‘medium armor’).
- Further slowed merc regen times. Mercenaries regenerate at 10 + (40 seconds
times level) now.

Item Changes:

- Rod of Necromancy now has 4 charges, down from 5.
- Potion of Divinity duration reduced to 25 from 30.
- Increased the level of the items Staff of Silence, Dagger of Escape and
Amulet of Spell Shield.
- Decreased the level of Medallion of Courage, Helm of Valor and Hood of
Cunning.
- Boots of Speed no longer stack – two boots of speed will make a hero just
as fast as one.
- Moonstone effect lasts 50% longer than previously (30 seconds up from
20).
- Wand of Illusion can no longer be cast on hostile units. This change was
made to prevent players from cheesing high level creep camps by using Wand
of Illusion on high level creeps, and then using this illusionary creep to
tank the damage.
- Orb of Lightning and Orb of Fire now cost 400 gold, down from 450.
- Orb of Lightning does not deliver its purge ability to summoned units as
often as before (35% down from 55%).
- Orb of Lightning damage to summonables is now 150, down from 400.

Other:

- Several creeps now drop Runes. Runes work like tomes, but instead of
upgrading your hero, they provide some other immediate benefit.
- Units healed while ethereal gain an additional 66% benefit. For example,
casting level 1 Holy Light on an ethereal unit for 200 hitpoints actually
ends up healing 333 hitpoints. Only “spell” healing is affected by this –
item healing and aura healing is not.
- Creeps can no longer be dragged via constant attacks – they eventually
give up and return to their start location. As a result, we have re-added
the Ice Flow map to ladder play.
- Magic Damage now deals 125% damage against light armor.
- Creeps that are not in combat now ignore flying units. This means that if
you move flying units around using “move” instead of “attack move”, creeps
will generally not attack them.
- When “attack-moving”, air units now prefer to attack other air units more
often than previously.
- When a unit is purchasing from a shop, and the shop is selected, the
unit’s inventory will be displayed in the normal position.
- Dragons, Drakes, and Dragon Whelps are a lot tougher than they used to be,
particularly when fighting other air units.

Neutral Hero Abilities:

The Beastmaster - The Beastmaster is a high-hitpoint “tanking” strength hero
who deals his damage primarily through summonables. All of his basic spells
are some form of summoning.
* Grizzly Bear – High hitpoint / high damage melee attacker
Level 2: Gains the Bash ability.
Level 3: Gains the Blink ability.
* Quill Beast -- Excellent ranged attacker.
Level 2: Gains the Rage ability, which causes the Quill Beast’s
attack speed and movement speed to increase in combat.
Level 3: Attacks become splash damage.
* Thunder Hawk – Versatile flying unit.
Level 1: No attack, truesight ability.
Level 2: Attacks air and ground units.
Level 3: Gains passive invisibility – when not attacking, a level 3
Thunder Hawk is invisible.
* Stampede (ultimate) - Summons waves upon waves of stampeding beasts which explode and cause damage to enemy units and buildings in their path.

The Pit Lord - The Pit Lord is a high-hitpoint “tanking” strength hero with
a number of useful abilities.
* Rain of Fire – Similar to Blizzard, except it also ignites affected units,
causing moderate damage over time to them. Additionally, it costs a bit
more mana than Blizzard, has a longer cooldown, and in all circumstances
will do slightly more damage.
* Howl of Terror – The Pit Lord screams a blood-curdling cry which causes
nearby enemy units to have reduced damage for a limited time. Think of it
as a ‘reverse’ roar.
* Cleaving Attack – Causes the Pit Lord’s attacks to do splash damage to
targets near the primary target.
* Doom (ultimate) – Can be cast on any non-hero, ground unit. The unit is
enveloped in darkness, and takes damage over time. Since doom is not
dispelable, and cannot be cancelled, the unit WILL die. Once the unit dies,
it will turn into a Doomguard under the control of the player who cast
Doom.

of Terror, Frost Armor, Drunken Haze, etc.
- Control Magic now works on wards.
- Dragonhawks have had their attack decreased to 1d2 + 15 from 1d6 + 20,
and their attack range decreased to 300 down from 600, but their cost
was decreased to 235/40 from 255/60.

- Obsidian Statue mana regeneration is now 2, up from 1.25.
- Tomb of Relics hitpoints increased to 475 from 400.
- Impale has been redone. The new impale sends a series of impaling spikes
through the ground. Enemy units hit by the spikes are impaled (taking
damage), thrown into the air, and then stunned.
- Level 2 and level 3 Carrion Scarab hitpoints are now 275 and 410 hitpoints
respectively, up from 260 and 380 hitpoints.
- Devour Magic now deals 180 damage to summoned units, up from 100.
- Devour Magic radius reduced to 200 from 250.

Additionally, Hex duration on units is now 15/30/45 by level (changed from
24/24/24), and its duration on heroes is now 4/5/6 (changed from 5/5/5).
- Watch Tower build time increased to 55 from 40.
- Watch Tower armor type changed to heavy.
- Burning Oil (from Catapults) is slightly more powerful than before.
- Unstable Concoction is now an instantaneous spell. Previously, it took a
brief amount of time to cast.
- Unstable concoction primary damage increased to 900.
- Troll Batriders now deal siege damage instead of piercing damage, deal 1d2
+ 10 damage, down from 1d4 + 18, and no longer deal splash damage.
- Troll Batrider hitpoints increased to 500 from 400.
- Liquid Fire now reduces building attack speed by 80%, up from 75%, and
deals 15 points of damage/sec to buildings, up from 5/sec.
- Voodoo Lounge hitpoints increased to 500 from 425.
- Disenchant has been re-balanced -- its radius was increased to 250 from
200, its damage to summoned units increased to 250 from 200, and its mana
cost was increased to 125 from 75. It also correctly removes buffs on
friendly and hostile units now.

- Den of Wonders hitpoints increased to 450 from 375.
- Chimaera hitpoints increased to 1000 from 900.
- Ballistas no longer require a Tree of Ages to be built.
- Tranquility no longer heals mechanical units.

- BETA PATCH 307
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

BALANCE CHANGES:
- Runes no longer are on random drop tables. However, they still drop on
Turtle Rock at certain pre-determined locations.
- Ballista hitpoints reduced to 300 from 380, build time increased to 48
from 36, and damage reduced to 1d12 + 38 from 1d14 + 55. Additionally,
Ballistas can no longer damage trees. We will re-add the capability to
attack trees in some capacity in a future patch.
- Breath of Fire now deals 50/100/150 damage by level, down from
70/140/210 damage by level. Its mana cost has also been reduced to 75,
but its DoT from comboing it with Drunken Haze has not changed.
- Impale effect area increased to 300 from 200. It now has the same area
of effect as Shockwave.
- Blood Mage speed increased to 300 from 270.
- Summon Bear now costs 125 mana down from 135 mana.
- Beastmaster speed increased to 320 from 270.

Krawall: Ok, Here we are again. Hi Bill.
Bill Roper: Yes, and in 4 weeks is the E3, then we will cross paths once again,

Krawall: Yes, even in the US you aren't safe from us anymore. Ok, let's start: We just saw in the presentation of "The Frozen Throne", that with the Expansion Pack so-called neutral Heroes will be implemented, that the player can hire. Will these also play a role in the Singleplayer mode?
Bill Roper: They will not be part of the story, but it is quite possible that they may be hired in a few parts. That will be done over a new building, the tavern. It will be included mostly for the reason that the player will not be totally surprised by them when he plays the multiplayer mode. There it will unfold its full effect, by adding a lot of flexibility and strategy.

Krawall: You just spoke about the story. As we just saw, there will be 2 campaigns: The "Frozen Throne" campaign and a second campaign for the orcs. Will the stories of the 2 campaigns be connected?
Bill Roper: No, they are totally seperated. The Orcs don't care about the whole thing with the "Frozen Throne", they are busy with themselves and with establishing themselves in Azeroth. They can't go back to their home, because it was destroyed - the whole planet to be exact, though they don't know that. So we will observe how Thrall tries to find a niche for him and his race. In my opinion, the seperation into two campaigns also fits well to the end of the campaigns in "Warcraft 3". Also, the Orc campaign is the palce where we will show what possibilites the new editor brings with it.

Krawall: So there are no connections between the two campaigns at all?
Bill Roper: Yes, except of course that they take place at a approximatley the same time.

Krawall: And the Orcs will not meet the new enemy, the Naga?
Bill Roper: Well, I can't tell who will fight whom, but the two campaigns are really not connected. The Naga are more or less concentrated in the "Frozen Throne" campaign. After the Bruning Legion was pretty much defeated in "Warcraft 3", we needed a new group of bad guys, which are the Naga. Additionally, I'll only say this: You never know who else will appear.

Krawall: And exactly like the Legion, the Naga will not be playable?
Bill Roper: Exactly. There are Naga buildings, but they were only meant to give the Naga more "color"(depth). We have enough work with the Expansion through the inclusion of all the new heroes. To include a completely new, playable race would be totally impossible.

Krawall: What about the ships that we saw?
Bill Roper: Of course you can build maps in which see units are included. To do that, the needed Goblin Shop will have to be placed on the map, as the building is not construcable by a player. However, these units are not such an integral part of the different races like they were in "Warcraft 2". But of course people can make maps that have enough water so that ships will play an important part.

Krawall: In "Frozen Throne" one can get the impression that the Orcs were pushed out of the main interest. In the main campaign they don't play a role. Why?
Bill Roper: Well, I don't think that you can that. The Orcs have their own campaign. What more can you want? They are not a part of the main campaign and Arthas was such a domineering guy, you know, that he wanted the whole cover for himself. If we hadn't done that he would have become really unpleasant in the end. Even his agent was really stubborn. *laughs* And .. where was I ... oh yeah, the Orc campaign ...

Krawall: How big is the Orc campaign, compared to the others?
Bill Roper: About as long as the parts of the other races, so about ten to twelve levels.

Krawall: Does it have it's own cut-schenes?
Bill Roper: Yes, the only thing that the Orc campaign doesn't have are the rendered sequences from our Cinematic-Department. That is partly because we wanted to show with the Orc campaign what is possible with the new editor that is included in "Frozen Throne". We wanted to use all the new features and also tell the people: Look here, you could also make this campaign - provided you are befriended to some good "speakers". Well, and it wouldn't hurt to know someone who can can compose good music. But essentially, we don't do anything there that a player couldn't do.

Krawall: So the Orc campaign is a kind of presentation piece for what the editor can do?
Bill Roper: Yes, it also works as a reference. It shows the players all the cool, new things that the Editor allows.

Krawall: What are they?
Bill Roper: Well, the biggest innovation is the ability to connect maps. You can make things happen on one map, and they directly influence what happens on another map. That gives you so many possibilities: For example, a troop of heroes can come to a certain point which they can't pass. They then have to first solve a quest in another map, and when they accomplish that, then the magically sealed door opens. That is a really nice thing, because when you create a map, then the story that you tell isn't necessarily built up so linearly. And for the player it feels like he would consistently earn small, new advances. It plays completely differently.

Krawall: At the end a few words to another topic. You have essentially implemented a ban on tools that move the hotkeys in Battle.Net. We would like to know why?
Bill Roper: Well, so far we have had to block a lot of people (from play in Battle.Net). But we haven't blocked anyone because they moved their hotkeys. In the Battle.net people try to and do cheat. We know of course that not every third-party program was written to harm the game, but they are against the EULA. And it is, well, I really don't know what I should say to that...

Krawall: Well, what we want to know is why Blizzard has a problem with programs that move the hotkeys.
Bill Roper: Ok .. well, let me answer that in two parts. First: We have made that not configurable in-game, because we wanted to show the people clearly what which hotkey does. We didd that ta make it as easy as possible. That of course doesn't answer your question - only as an explanation as to why we did it that way. About the newest bans ... there I have to say that you surprised me with that question. I think that maybe Gil knows more about that. H ehas - I think - just shortly spoken with the whole team about this topic, right?
Gil Shif: Yes, we have just a short time ago discussed the newest blocks and bans. Well, we haven't banned or blocked all of them immediately - it wasn't that way. It is just that we have a clear politic regarding cheaters. Most of the people that we blocked were caught cheating.

Krawall: Still it is not possible to use programs that reconfigure the hotkeys with a clear conscience anymore, right?
Gil Shif: I think that I saw on of the Websites that offered these tools, that they aren't offered anymore, but it is not like we prevented the functionality of there programs. They still work, and users can use them. We just let them know, that they take a certain risk when they download and use such a program.

Krawall: Was that a diplomatic way to say: "If you use these tools, you will possibly be blocked or banned"?
Gil Shif: Essentially, yes.
Bill Roper: But only partly. There are really a lot of tools out there that give you an unfair advantage.

Krawall: Ok, those would be cheat-tools. No one has a problem with banning them. Have you though about adding configurable hotkeys, through a patch for example? Or with "Frozen Throne", to get back to our topic?
Bill Roper: That is possible. To emphasize it again: We had good reasons, why we haven't included this possibility so far - it isn't like we couldn't implement it. We wanted to have a certain measure of consistency between the game surfaces. That we have done that so far, doesn't mean that we will not change it in the future. Especially when we hear from a lot of fans, that they want such a feature. Then we would be the last, who wouldn't listen to them.

Krawall: That will make some people happy to hear that, Thank you for the interview, Bill.
Bill Roper: No problem.

If nothing else, the constant changes and tweaks in The Frozen Throne beta have introduced more diversity into the different strategies and outcomes that players can expect to see in the game. For instance, in one match, we pitted the night elves' huntresses, archers, faerie dragons, and chimeras against the orcs' shamans, witch doctors, and taurens. While the flying faerie dragons and chimeras dispatched the spellcasting shamans and witch doctors with ease, the orcish heroes and taurens smashed through the night elf ground forces with equal facility. We found in these and other matches that we'd have to go back to the drawing board and prepare a new army with new counter units. This switching of strategies in the middle of a game is exactly what Blizzard is hoping for with The Frozen Throne, and it's why unit costs have been reduced across the board.

900.
- Scroll of Speed duration increased to 10 seconds from 7 seconds.
- Clarity Potion cost reduced to 70 from 80.
- Healing Salve cost reduced to 100 from 125.

Changes to Neutral Buildings, Units and Heroes:

- Neutral heroes now require an Altar to be purchased.
- Death Coil now heals Pit Lords while Holy Light harms them.
- Pit Lord speed increased to 300 from 270.
- Black Arrow minions once again improve with the level of the skill. For
each level gained, Minions gain 30% hitpoints and slight amounts of
damage.
- Tornado has been reworked. It now creates a controllable unit that does
extreme damage to nearby buildings, light damage to buildings in the
general vicinity, slows units by a large amount, and tosses nearby units
and heroes up into the air randomly. Note that the spell is still a
channel spell.
- Drunken Haze duration reduced to 12 seconds at all levels.

Other:

- Upgraded casters properly get the +30% mana regen boost that was put
in several patches ago. Up until this patch, casters only got +30%
mana regen to base regen, which ended up being only +15% when fully
upgraded.
- Splash damage units that get a "MISS!" from Curse, Evasion or Drunken
Haze, now deal ½ damage to targets. Previously, they dealt full damage.

is a bug which will be fixed soon.
- Essence of Blight now heals 12 hitpoints per casting, up from 10.

Pro-gamers in Korea are akin to rock stars. They are stopped in the streets by fans asking for autographs. They practice 10 to 15 hours a day before they play for fun.

They hire agents, hairstylists and are funded by sponsors, such as Samsung Electronics . Top gamers can make $1 million a year.

"There are more than 5 million Koreans who play StarCraft - and Korea is no bigger than Indiana," said Dave Kosak, creative director for GameSpy Industries, an online game site based in Irvine.

Until around 2000, the Korean government had banned certain Japanese imports to encourage the Korean market.

The ban meant that Sony Playstations and the game-console culture skipped Korea, Kosak said. Koreans resorted to playing games on computers. With limited space and PC access at home, teens went to "computer baangs"- public game centers where people go to socialize and use computers.

"Video gaming is like a sport," he said. "There's commentary. There's analysis."

In Irvine, Blizzard keeps a low profile with unmarked headquarters near the University of California, Irvine, after overly zealous fans staked out its former offices.

But in Korea, Warcraft and StarCraft are the focus of TV shows and news reports.

Cheesy tactic baru

Mass Spellbreaker + Priest
Hero with AOE spell (Blizzard,Flamestrike,Pitlord's AOE)

Gila nih .. Spellbreaker kan melee unit dan magic immune, jadi kalo lagi lawan musuh laen.. heronya pake spell AOE dan spellnya itu ga ada effeknya ama Spellbreaker loeee. Jadi yg kena cuma musuh loe.

high-templar
April 19, 2003, 17:41
AOE apa ya?
kalo main wc3 , kalo pake orc taktik yg bagus apa sih? soalnya kayanya unit orc paling enak jadi sasaran empuk polymorph, bete kan udah bikin tauren trus dijadiin kambing... biarpun ada purge , kayanya tetep kalah deh kalo ketemu mass sorc.
kenapa? soalnya unit orc yg bisa kita kontrol pasti sedikit (harga unitnya mahal dan farmnya juga makan byk) kalo human kan footman ama sorc murah meriah....
taktik kalo FFA pake orc gimana yah? soalnya paling banter cuma bisa abisin 1 musuh
kalo gw FFA biasa pake human bisa babat 3 musuh, modal domba doank
wah sory ya kalo gw masi culun nih, minta saran donk dari master2 disini

weiwei
April 19, 2003, 17:49
AoE mungkin maksudnya area effect spells / auras...

kalo musuh maen mass-sorceress brarti dia fast-teching... so rush lah dia pake grunt...
apalagi skrg di FT, berserker strength jadi tier2... grunt-rush bakalan common

high-templar maen WC3 versi brapa ? and biasa maen brapa vs brapa ?

salah.. di FT malah WON ga di jual sama sekali. Sudah di remove dari game

April 20, 2003, 04:18
tapi diganti jadi :
still WoN lho ;)
Wand of Neutralization
Dispels all magical effects in a target area. Dispels Buffs/De-buffs/effects but does not dispel Summoned Units. Also, if you target a hostile unit, it will only dispel hostiles. If you target a friendly unit, it will only dispel friendlies.

WoN yg diatas itu cuma buat single-player ntar di FT

Kalo di multiplayer, WoN itu tidak di jual lagi. Soalnya blizzard mau encourage unit unit anti-caster seperti spell-breaker,Spirit-walker,etc etc.

masi main WC3:ROC versi 1.05
FT masi beta sih jadi rada males
tapi kalo udah keluar pasti dimaenin... hehehe
gw kalo main kadang2 1vs1, 2vs2, gw ally ama kompi vs temen ally ama kompi, FFA 4 org, ally lawan kompi...
yah kaeknya semuanya gw maenin, strategy nya beda2 soalnya (itu yg gw demen) ....
oh iya soal WON kalo kita pake orc , bukannya mubazir pake itu? gw udah coba soalnya kan unit kita yg jadi domba berpencar2 gitu, udah gitu juga bakal ngilangin blood lust ato ward yg kita pasang, udah gitu hero kita belum tentu punya slot kosong buat WON byk (paling banter beli 2 biji)

April 20, 2003, 04:34
wah that's bad news...
human licik donk kan ada dispelnya priest

April 20, 2003, 04:37
orc ada tuh ,spirit walker kan ada spell mirip Dispel.

Kalo Undead gue kurang tau.. soalnya ga pernah pake.

Kalo NE ada Dryad's abolish (walaupun sux kalo buat lawan Necro's skeleton)

WoN cuma ngilangin negative buffs...

SpellBreaker nya udah benar2 terlalu kuat. Spell Breaker + Priest + Hero with AOE spell = kuat banget.

yg paling lemah menurut orang di forum b.netsih NE , ada yg bilang orc.

SoH = Scroll of Healing

hehe saya benci caster tuh... and yg pake masscaster siap2 aja kena WoN and dibantai ;)

WC3 RoC race paling kuat ? mmmm either NE & Undead...
Orc sejak 1.04 ke atas jadi agak lemah di RoC
Human... defensenya keren... tapi offensenya hehehe :D

gue paling demen Undead, heronya kaga pernah bakalan mati... apalagi DK... kecuali dikeroyok abies2an 2ctrl focus fire sih memang ndak bisa apa2 ;) tapi jarang skali matinya...

FT yup pasti human thx to anti-magicnya yg bejibun itu :P

kalo orc kayaknya dah mayan skrg apalagi berserker tier 2 itu...

aFTeRLiFe
April 20, 2003, 04:47
Kalo human lawan hero undead. Nih Stratnya

Banish(+66% damage) + Healing Light + Storm Bolt = dead undead hero

jadi tuh damage healing light ama storm bolt jadi lebih gede 66%

aFTeRLiFe

orc kalah di tier 2 soalnya mereka ga ada healingnya

Kalo NE = moon well
Human = Priest
Undead = Statue (kalo ga salah)

iya.. tpai itu early lvl cuma heal 3 unit doank, sikit lagi. Sedangkan moonwell + priest bisa heal banyak dan cepat.

masalahnya gini.. loe lagi tier2, musuh juga tier2

loe ketemu musuh, misalkan human deh... loe lawan musuhnya.. terus musuhnya lari. Hp unit loe rata2 tinggal 30%.
Mereka balek ke base.. heal.. terus serang base loe kembali.
HP unit loe semuanya tinggal 30%. Pasti kalah, kecuali loe beli SoH. Tapi kalo pake SoH loe harus pake duit.. jadinya kurang efficient.

kalo undead, hero #1 selalu death knight...
always main aura, unholy... and death coil...

death knight kan punya death pact bisa sacrifice unit undead sendiri buat diambil hpnya ke DK...

trus biasanya me selalu belanja ke goblin merchant...
2 SoH, 1 WoN, and healing potion (kadang2)

hero#2 biasanya kalo gue pake dreadlord... nah kebanyakan tuh lawan gue takutnya sama si dreadlord ini... padahal kalo DL mo mati tinggal di death coil sama si DK...

yah begitu lah... intinya tuh selalu belanja ke goblin merchant...
tapi kalo di FT rubah total sih kayaknya taktik gue nggak berlaku lagi :( *sedih*

good point... tapi kata gue sih cepetan moon well dibanding priest :) karena priest musti one unit at a time gitu kan...

moon well di FT nggak sejelek RoC 1.05 kan ? yg nambahin mananya (proprosi replenish mananya lebih gede drpd hp) dulu sebelum hp...

SoH ? mmmm apalah artinya 250gold dibanding army elu yg gede mati smua ? ;) sudah pasti buildnya butuh lebih dari 250gold kan ? :D
