some people say that they are too old to study english, they cant accept the subject anymore.but some also say that their kids are too young to study english and they will be stressful. so......guys, what do you think is the best time for people to study english? when did you start studying english? until when? are you using english in your daily life now?

i start studying english when i was 9 until now. Now, i study my academics using english.

I started studying English when I was 10, until now. I still use it in my daily worklife. I work in a consulting company. Many expats. Gotta tell them good clean jokes! :kakaka:

There shouldn't be an age criteria of when it is good or bad to study a certain language. Especially with children. I mean, you shouldn't overload their minds with "new" things, but learning one language at a time won't hurt them...in fact, children learn quicker than adults when it comes to languages (and possibly everything else ;D)

Many (not all) adults use that "I'm old" line as an excuse for their laziness to start or continue studying a subject...

The best time anyone should learn English is when they have a chance to, and age makes no difference. The younger the better.

I started learning English when I was 5-ish before I came here. And I'm still learning ;D
If I don't use English in my daily life here, it will be hard for me to communicate with people ;D

I studied English when I was about 9 or 10 years old and now I use it daily especially at work and uni...I think when u speak to children daily since they are very young, they would pick it up...that's why i keep on telling my mom and dad that they should speak to me in mandarin when i was young so automatically i can speak the language now...

my father has a friend from russia and his wife is a taiwanese, and their children speak russian, english and mandarin...cause the parents spoke to them in english and mandarin when they were young...

The sooner the better! :D

Hmm, I'm forgot when I was starting to learn english. I think from grade 3 at elementary school (SD?). Been studying it ever since. Total years: 9 or 10 years. :D But even now, I'm still learning though. There's no limit for learning! :bravo:

dont worry meleena... it's actually good that you feel outstripped by your friends coz it actually encourages you to learn more.. eventually you'll get your english improved.. and good of all, it may even surpass your friend's !... :)

Man, it was so back in the day when i first learned english  i think id go as far back as junior kindergarten?? my mommy exposed me to the language by some nursery rhymes and some simple games, card cues and all, but started the formal education at 7 yrs old. but didnt really use it as a daily language up til abt 4+- yrs ago, so im still learning a lot too and it did take a lot of beating at first, but starting early HAS helped a lot with the techniques of the language. but be using it as a daily language at an earlier age could have been more crucial to grasp the --> feeling <--of using the language. cuz its really gonna become part of your lifestyle, and urself as a person

btw, i hate making essays. essays suck:p

i think there is no limit age limit on studying english, if the person likes and willing to learn english, why not?

I myself started my first english lesson at the age of 6 and there i found a lot student younger or much older than i studied english.

I started learning english when i was 13 or 14 can't remember..It was in secondary high. My sister was the one who encouraged me a lot though..coz i really didn't have an initiative to even touch anything related to english language..When i reached 17 that was the time when i have to travel abroad, n so during those years was like a japanese invasion, where i got torturer and beaten up 4 not learning english..hehehe:D actually not that bad..sorry 2 make it sounds very dramatic:munch: ..but the gum is so yumm::bubble:: where was i? oh yah..since then i started to open some books, i remember the english grammar & vocabulary by Budi S Januar. Hey how come u guys got so many GP?..::babydot: and i dont?.....anyway..so when i was 17 i have to started 2 pack all my stuffs to a place where it has more sheeps than human..(my sis told me according to stastic nz at the time) however..im still survive..still living n breathing until now.

personally i think there is no best time for a person to learn english, but if u can start as early age as u can, the better..coz the younger u r the easier 2 learn something..
